What a delight to be able to see so many species of birds (and other wildlife) where they stay still long enough to photograph or even just look at through good binoculars (recommend 7X to 10X) (12X IF you have a tripod). Bicycles are available for rent (elsewhere on the island) and you can ride a choice of about 3 or 7 miles round trip. Allow lots of time to just sit and watch the gorgeous panorama of water, shoreline and large flocks of birds. Get the bird identifier guide at the visitors gift shop AND check out binoculars for the whole day for FREE! If possible, plan on visiting twice (at both low and high tides) based on the schedule at the visitors center. If you enjoy birds then you will enjoy Ding Darling refuge.
