This is one 4 mile loop through a protected wildlife refuge. The bird life was excellent. Not much to do if you want to hike off the road. There are no trails. You can canoe though. There is lots of channels and canals to explore. Don't forget you camera and bird watching glasses.

You can bike or drive through this place. We have visited several times at different times. This last time we didn't see a gator (that is what our kids were excited about) but lots of birds

We did a guided bike ride through the refuge. The volunteer guides, husband and wife team, were super nice and very knowledgeable. Wonderful time! If you are into nature, don't miss this!

This refuge is full of wildlife, as one would expect. Many species of birds! There were gators, many fish, and turtles. We rode our bikes through the main section and a few days later we walked the "Bailey Tract". Both were nice. Definitely a must see on Sanibel Island. Also, we rented Kayaks and toured the refuge that way. Very nice kayak trail.

We bicycled through the Refuge and enjoyed the relaxed pace. My husband was disappointed that we didn't see a 'gator. But, we did happen upon a bob cat!! This is a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours.
