Every thing you need is right here. There is fishing, shelling, beach and playfull dolphins. Really, what more do you need.

Lighthouse closed & under renovation. Different and nice backdrop for pictures. Enjoyed the beach and pier but had higher expectations for seashells, and there were very few when we were there.

We rode bikes to this beach and walked to the pier. Nice views and actually saw couple of dolphins as we walked the beach. Very unique lighthouse, made a nice background for a picture of our visit. Lots of shells if that's your thing. What was nice was no wind on one side and windy and refreshing on the pier side.

The lighthouse itself is not very impressive. You cannot get very close or even go inside, but if you are on Sanibel anyway you might as well stop. You do have to pay to park at this public beach area, it is only $2 per hour so not too bad. Whenever my husband and I stopped we were actually more interested in shelling on this beach that seeing the lighthouse! We woke up after a storm and after the sun had come up and decided to go shelling on a beach we haven't visited yet and we were not disappointed! So many interesting and more rare shells that we had not seen before on our trip were just laying on the beach. From our experience the lighthouse is not that great but the shelling was awesome!

interesting beach, very windy by the lighthouse; nice place to watch the pelicans and other birds diving for fish. the lighthouse was being renovated when we were there; not yoour typical lighthouse, but its a nice place to visit if you plan on spending time on the island.
