The lighthouse itself is not very impressive. You cannot get very close or even go inside, but if you are on Sanibel anyway you might as well stop. You do have to pay to park at this public beach area, it is only $2 per hour so not too bad. Whenever my husband and I stopped we were actually more interested in shelling on this beach that seeing the lighthouse! We woke up after a storm and after the sun had come up and decided to go shelling on a beach we haven't visited yet and we were not disappointed! So many interesting and more rare shells that we had not seen before on our trip were just laying on the beach. From our experience the lighthouse is not that great but the shelling was awesome!

interesting beach, very windy by the lighthouse; nice place to watch the pelicans and other birds diving for fish. the lighthouse was being renovated when we were there; not yoour typical lighthouse, but its a nice place to visit if you plan on spending time on the island.

We love lighthouses & make the effort to see as many as we can whenever we are close to any of them. Once again, you had to pay $2/hour to go down a lane to see the lighthouse. You cannot see it closely from any other point. It's not a very attractive lighthouse. It's also disappointing there is not a museum or just an information area that can tell you the history of the light or any information you might want. So I can't see myself buying any memorabilia for this light. Oh, and the beach is dirty and we found no shells.

After spending lots of money for our Blue Water Sanibel Island Vacation for 2 weeks. Also spending lots of money for Tackle , Bait and out of state Fishing Lisence. We found Dirty, Coffee Tea Colored Water all arond Sanibel , Captiva , Ft. Myers and all back bays including Tarpon Bay. My wife would not even get into it due to High Levels of who knows what. The fishing was just terrible. The Fish do not like this Brown , Brackish Tea Water Either. They are very smart and swam out into the Golf Miles away from this low ozygen , contaminated water. This will takes years to fix even if it can be. I feel sorry for all the Retail and Real Estate Businesses. Let alown the Rental Companies.

Good Luck Fixing a once Beutifull Vacation Spot.
