The beach here is nice and alot calmer then other area beaches, The lighthouse was not pretty and the "typical" light house I expected being from up north, but an old rusty metal structure. If you are going to go and pay the toll to go make sure you make a day of it at the beach, otherwise it is not worth it.

It is a beautiful beach and a tradition for our family to stop there each time we're at Sanibel. Many times there are great tidal pools to explore!

Always crowded for breakfast but worth the wait. Just about any breakfast item you could imagine.eggs are cooked correct to order and pancakes are fluffy. I got a farmers type of breakfast that even had grits. Oatmeal is good with right texture. Service is only thing that had some glitches. Hostess and waitresses were sometimes abrupt and unattentive. The quality of the breakfast offset the wait

The Sanibel Island Lighthouse is a beautiful piece of history and an asset to the Island. Lighthouses are always so beautiful. We looked for a way to go up inside to no avail. From the waters and the beach a surely lovely site. Most people were driving in to see and leaving. Maybe taking a few pictures. Public beaches close for bathroom facilities. No Food available. Small Island though so plenty of places to eat.

I love the Sanibel Island Lighthouse! While it is on the plain-side (a metal tube with metal stairwell), there is something about it that makes it a wonderful landmark I visit each trip. It's history is interesting, the area surrounding it is pure natural Florida with a park, the Gulf, metered parking spots, an Oil House, and two original homes on stilts that houses the original lighthouse keepers'.
This has withstood over a century of Florida heat, humidity, hurricanes, tropical storms --- something about it!
Only wish they offered tours inside the lighthouse.
