It is a multiple visit place for us while on Sanibel. They have wonderful original flavors like the Dirty Sanddollar (my favorite), Sanibel Krunch (my wife's favorite), and Shipwrecked (one of my kids favorites) along with several others. They even make flavors for the seasons and holidays like Trick or Treat for October, and of course have many traditional flavors as well. The staff are always friendly even when they have crazy long lines durning the summer nights and they are still serving long after closing time. And boy do they know how to pile the ice cream on! If you love your cones stacked high and topped with an animal cracker this is the place for you. Pinocchio's is a must visit and will leave you, your taste buds, and your tummy with a smile!

Oh wow - how to explain this place. Get a coupon from Sunny Days mag for a free topping to start with. Go before 8:00 for shorter lines. If 2 people, share a cup with 2 choices. There are some interesting choices of homemade Ice Creams like Sanibel Krunch, Sand Dollar, Wedding bells and so many more. Ask for a taste so you can choose what you like the best. We chose to get 3 scoops - oh me oh my.. The bowl is huge. The hot fudge went into the bottom then each of those 3 ice creams -- huge scoops -- really double scoops. Then on top of that went more hot chocolate. Our eyes just about popped out of our heads and all of that for $6.31 with tax!!! Brusters take a lesson!! We sat on one of the many benchs (there are also chairs) on the porch and scarffed it up. Well not quite half of it - just my husband and I. There was a family of 5 eating out of the same size bowl and struggling to finish. We wrapped the bowl with lid in newspapers to keep it cold and headed back to our condo off of West Gulf and Tarpon Bay Rd.
Compare this with Dairy Queen, small cones at $3.29 each.
In the evenings the lines are so long the snake thru the bakery at Gepetto's next door and the seats across the entire porch get taken up and kids are sitting on the floor.

Very bare bones inside, but has some incredibly yummy ice cream. You can taste the fat content on your tongue, so you know they make their ice cream with the real thing - cream! Was a little confused by the pricing and the scoops and how you can't get more than one flavor if you don't buy a certain price point... but I got the "kids" size and it was enormous. At least 2 scoops worth. So be warned. You might think $5 is expensive for an ice cream cone, but you get like 4 scoops of ice cream. Worth the drive down to the very end of Sanibel by the lighthouse. I would imagine in the summer this place is packed. We were there in October and were served right away. Excellent ice cream.

If your on Sanibel Island be sure to go by this place, if you love ice cream this is the place to be. As you are going to the Lighthouse beach stop in to get the best home made ice cream , try the Sanibel Crunch.next door is a place to get food for the beach, or go to the light house cafe, it's three in one stop shop.
