We stayed at Seaside Inn Valentine's Day in a room facing the gulf. Loved it. The view was spectacular. Enjoyed the pool. The inn was quaint. The breakfast baskets were a plus. Loved the use of the bicycles to explore the island and go to lunch. Great beach. The beachchairs and umbrellas were an added plus. The staff were cheerful and helpful, especially Tressane who you could tell really loved her job and loved people. Sorry if I got your name wrong. We will definitely be back and hopefully soon. Will definitely request the same room for the wonderful view. Happy customers.

Helpful staff, lovely pool, interesting, quiet beach site for our family getaway with our children and grandchildren. We used the bikes provided to explore with no need to drive. Breakfast baskets were full of good food and juices.

We read a ton of reviews on this site prior to booking at Seaside and found that just about everyone was right on target. You should not go to this facility if you are expecting a Sandals experience. think more like Cape Cod in the late 50's or early 60's. A clean efficiency trying hard to keep up with the times. People are correct in saying the AC system will remind you that it's warm outside. Works great however a heat pump type system will cycle thru the night. takes getting used to. All of the folks that work there are great. Very friendly. Remember old towels are old towels. The promised morning breakfast basket was in the fridge every day. A great way to avoid waiting in line for breakfast at the local eateries which always have an hour plus wait time. In fact if you are going to Sanibel you have to prepare yourself for a lot of waiting. Waiting In traffic,, waiting in line for restaurants who won't accept reservations for two and, most importantly waiting for the internet connection via wi-fi. And did I mention waiting in long lines of traffic? You should learn the local traffic patterns on this little island or you will spend all day in your car waiting. Bicycles were available at the seaside a plus. The beach was just footsteps away and the beach chairs, which are a rarity elsewhere, were present for duty every day. They are taken in every night for turtle landings. Shells? If you want shells there are millions. You must hunt for the good ones. Prepare the shells for the trip home properly or you will receive the ugly stares of fellow travelers due to the strong odor of bacteria still present in the dead shells. Live shell taking is prohibited. The answer to the odor is soaking the shells in lemon soap or water. No matter how well you clean them at the wash stand provided by the Seaside Inn, you have to really work on getting the smell out. Our housekeeper Edna was fantastic and kept the room spotless. She also provided all the supplies you need for the bath, shower and kitchen area. Comcast is the cable provider and they are giving fits to everyone on the island so don't blame Seaside. So if you want to take a step back to olde Cape Cod this is your place. We are from Cape Cod so we found it to be quaint , clean and friendly! Sometimes a change from the five star modern facilities can be rewarding. Don't forget to bring beach sneakers as walking on the beach will be painful due to so many shells. We did have daily encounters with dolphins, pelicans and lots of other birds. We did not encounter any alligators, no-see-ums or wildlife.

Room Tip: Ask for Gulf view or you will look at the swimming pool. Lots of rooms face in with a glimpse of the...

What a lovely place, very low-key. We had a sweet beachfront cottage which was nice and quiet. The view was fantastic. The cottage was very clean. Porch could use a bit of an update, but nothing to complain about. The staff, especially Tresann, were extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. A quick walk up the beach will get you to a great Tiki-Bar. If you need a restaurant on property, this is not the place for you. But the upside to that is it's nice and quiet. Plenty of places in walking distance.

Room Tip: If you want quiet, beachfront is the best. Ask to be away from pool. But overall the place is nice...

Despite the terrific view and location, and friendly staff, we had ants on our countertop throughout our stay. Although maintenance came by and sprayed each day, the ants kept coming back. Unfortunately, much to my disappointment, I have not heard back from management to even apologize about this. I understand things happen, but due to the overall lack of concern about this, I would have to recommend looking elsewhere for a beach stay on Sanibel Island.

After a week at Walt Disney World I had been anticipating a relaxing five days on Sanibel!

My first impression of the Seaside upon pulling up was that it was a little more "quaint" than I was anticipating.

After a very friendly check in experience we went to our room to be knocked over by a strong musty smell. Upon further inspection of the room we found it to be unclean with several bugs in it.

The front desk said they were sold out for the week and housekeeping was gone for the day but we could move to a different room for the night. The second room was just as musty. I asked if they had an ozone machine to run while we were out to dinner to take care of the smell. The very friendly gentleman made a couple of phone calls and tracked one down.

After returning several hours later with the ozone machine and AC running we found the room to be just as musty. Upon looking at the AC vent, it was filled with black mold. We packed up our belongings at 10:30pm, drove to Fort Meyers and spent the night in a very nice Hilton Garden Inn and decided to return to Orlando the next day for the rest of our trip.

They very willingly returned our money and deposit which leads me to believe this may be a regular occurrence.

GREAT: We loved the location of this very nice and informal inn by the sea. There were three of us (two adults and one child). We stayed five nights in a one bedroom cottage. It is an older place and there are the inevitable signs of that age but it has a cottage feel to it and that was fine with us. There is a lovely view of the Gulf from the deck and sitting on the deck it is a short distance to the pool. The pool area is nice - the pool is clean and warm. The beach is a short walk and it's a fantastic beach. Everything you hear about the abundance of shells on Sanibel is true! It's a nice walk from the Inn along the beach to the lighthouse. The hotel supplies bicycles and there are bike paths all over the island. The supplies in the kitchen were absolutely minimal and basic but adequate if you don't mind improvising to cook. The staff we encountered was friendly and helpful. The unit was basically clean. The beds (King in the bedroom and Queen sofa bed) were both firm and comfortable. NOT SO GREAT: The housekeeping was a inconsistent - on our first day our breakfast basket was only half full and we later realized it had been left over from the people before. The basket comes with the same thing every day (orange juice in little plastic containers, fruit cocktail in little plastic containers, bagels, and pastries, coffee and tea, hard-boiled eggs). It wouldn't be too hard to improve the quality of the food in this basket and make it a real plus - as it is, it sounds nice but is not very appetizing. We didn't receive a dish cloth and dish towel until the third day. The unit wasn't vacuumed until the second last day. One cleaning person made the beds, the other didn't.

Room Tip: The cottages are very close to the pool and are good for families - easy to keep an eye on the kids.
