We spent our 25th Anniversary at the Song of the Sea. We stayed one week 24th-30th. It was wonderful. Pool and hot tub were clean and very nice. The view to the ocean from the second floor was perfect. Continental breakfast everyday in the office area. Staff was very nice and very helpful. Very quite location as well. Very cozy rooms, which were very clean and well maintained. The king size bed in our room was very nice. Was wonderful sitting outside our room in a private screened in porch. RELAXING!!! Great intimate place, even had a bottle of wine waiting in out room upon arrival. Must go back! C'mon 2014!!!!

Room Tip: Second floor was choice for us, but all rooms looked nice.

We stayed at Song of the Sea to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The room was very comfortable and the staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating from the time we walked through the door until the time we left. The grounds are beautiful and the location is convenient to most of the local restaurants. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend Song of the Sea to anyone looking for a comfortable, relaxing, quaint place to stay.

We vacation in Sanibel every year, staying at beautifu Oceans Reach, thought we would try something new since Song of the Sea has been around and had nice photos and good reviews.
We booked the King Ocean Front Boutique Suite. When we first entered the lobby, use that very generally, there is a small room with someone washing dishes...eewww
Going into the room, you are hit with a musty smell and then the ridiculous non matching, old, dirty, furniture..for over $200 nitr- not coffee table?? the king size bed is in a room where you can only get to the other side by jumping over the bed- there is no room to walk. Oh, and did i mention there was no hot water for half of the day? Tv had interrupted service, A/C ducts closed up and when opening, dust , etc.. flying out
HORRIFYING. We are leaving as soon as the sun comes up in the morning.....

This is my first time visiting Sanibel. My husband & I came for a honeymoon getaway. The Song of the Sea is an older hotel, but it appears to me that they have maintained it well & made some upgrades. We stopped in at the lobby when we arrived at the island (2 hours early to check in) to ask if they could recommend a place to grab a bite for lunch & the girl at the desk told us that our room was actually ready & we were able to check in early for no additional charge (nice to be able to unload the vehicle early & get a jump start on our vacation). The room is nice, with a large flat screen TV & a very comfortable bed. Bath & bed linens are all bright white, no stains or yellowing, no holes, snags or fraying. Separate pool towels provided also in new/lightly used condition. There was a bottle of merlot, 2 wine glasses & a vase with orchids waiting for us on the dinette table. There is an apartment sized electric stove, a full size refrigerator with an icemaker, a microwave, blender, toaster, coffee pot & small sink. Kitchenette also has a variety of sizes of pots & pans, flatware & silverware for 4; cooking utensils & drinking glasses. Was surprised to find no extra pillows in the closet (probably were available, but honestly I never even asked; slept so well without them). The room was nicely made up & very clean when we arrived & every day we come back to the hotel, it's as if we haven't been here "messing it up" over the past couple of days.

The hotel does its part to recycle & conserve & advises it's guests to do so as well (I love this). They use twister bulbs, recycled paper products, water saving bath fixtures (which still give plenty of water pressure) along with other other "green" practices. Our room even has a recycle bin which is picked up daily with regular trash & linens. The water temperature is very hot (for those of you who love a good hot shower) & the air conditioning works exceptionally well (for those of you who love a crisp, cool getaway from the August heat). Each room has a screen porch with a table and chair, which is also swept & cleaned daily.

Continental breakfast is available daily in the lobby building for early risers as well as for those of us who like to roll out of bed around 8 or so. Not just coffee & donuts! Plenty to choose from including hard boiled eggs, yogurt, a variety of fresh fruits, english muffins, assorted bagels, danish, a variety of cereals, or some fresh homemade waffles. Be sure to grab a glass of one of the juices they offer to go with your coffee or tea.

Bicycles of all shapes, sizes & styles (including a bicycle built for 2) are available along with a cable & lock, complimentary of the hotel; but get up early or they'll all be en route by the time you get up. The grounds are nice - well maintained. There hasn't been a day when we didn't see staff members hard at work to make sure the guests have a most beautiful & relaxing stay here. The pool here is very clean & has a lift for handicapped guests. There is also a hot tub, shuffleboard, grill, tables & chairs for guests to use.
.
The beach is a short walkover and the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas but again, get there early! Hotel staff are always sure to have lounge chairs & umbrellas set up out on the beach & ready for use each morning (provided weather permits). If inclement weather sets in, they're sure to pull off the beach to ensure guests safety. Also nice to see that they are removed each evening (which could be an obstacle, causing thef death to newly hatched sea turtle babies trying to make it safely to the ocean; or may block the path of a mother sea turtle trying to find a safe place to lay her eggs. (A visit to CROW here on Sanibel was very informative.)

Cory, the young man who has been at the front desk the past few mornings is very pleasant & easy to talk with. He works at all 4 of the hotels in this group & is an asset to the establishment. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here & look forward to coming back here again soon. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for quality lodging at an affordable price with a great location to boot. Come to the Song of the Sea, kick back, relax & enjoy the island.

The grounds are lovely. The free bicycle was appreciated. The bedroom space is extremely cramped and didn't allow space for our luggage. Our unit was clean. The staff was friendly. We stayed in a second floor unit that faced the gulf, I would recommend this.

First time to Sanibel Island - found Song of the Sea, mainly based on TA reviews. Fantastic place! It is a smaller place which made it very intimate. The buildings are older but have been updated. Our second floor king coastal room had that old Florida feel to it. The private screened in balcony/porch was awesome. The grounds were impeccably kept. Very natural setting - flowers, greenery, path to the beach. Very nice pool area. Breakfast (like a Hampton Inn) was included - a plus and very good. You can enjoy eating it sitting outside on the brick patio that has a pond in the center. (we did not have any rain). Another plus - lounge chairs and umbrellas are set up on their private beach every morning. My only negative is with housekeeping. When we arrived we could not check into our room until 5:00 because it wasn't ready yet. The room did not seem very clean either-not to my standards for sure. Despite this we can't wait to go back!

We were looking for a change of scene for a quick anniversary weekend. Living at the beach ourselves means hanging and getting a suntan isn't a top priority for us. Song of the sea is a small resort, though affiliated with others which is convenient if you want to play golf or tennis. Choose or request a room wisely- the "ocean view" rooms in building #4 are quite a way back. The grounds are nice with a small pool, places to sit and shuffleboard amongst tropical plantings. The beach is a short walkover and they provide chairs and umbrellas but get there early or late! Since there wasn't enough for all. I suspect others from neighboring properties use them- maybe there should be some wrist bands or something. The beach is lovely though with recent rains the river was emptying lake water so the ocean was quite brown and murky - unusual for Sanibel to be sure, but we certainly don't get that further north.

The rooms are pleasant. Nothing fantastic, really, with flat screen TVs and comfortable beds. The rooms are very clean, but I wish shower pressure was stronger. Each room has a screen porch with a table and chair which was great to watch the sunset. The aircon was very good- not drafty and very cold. Thank goodness in August!
Breakfast is very typical of what you would get in a Hampton Inn or chain hotel, nothing special but it was completely fine. The free bikes we took advantage of-a lot- I wish there were more or better/ newer ones. We rode everywhere and loved it.

Would we return? Probably. A good value? Perhaps if you book well. The best part - the friendly staff and the small size.
