“Everything we wanted”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed at Song of the Sea for a long weekend in April and were very happy with our stay. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed having the lanai to enjoy early morning and late night. The beach was easily accessible from the property and not very crowded, although it was a race some mornings to get out there to "reserve" your chair before they were all snatched up.

We enjoyed staying at a smaller resort vs. a larger all-inclusive resort. We didn't mind that a restraunt wasn't on-site since there were so many great dining options to choose from on the island. If our stay would have been longer, we would have gone to the Sunday Sanibel Island Farmer's market to stock our fridge for quick beach lunches and snacks.

I would recommend this location if you're looking for a smaller hotel. We were a little concerned about noise having a pool-view room but there weren't many families with children so had a quiet stay.

Although Song does has quiet a few bikes to borrow, a car is pretty much essential if you're interested in exploring the Island and it's restaraunts.

Room Tip: Try the OJ at breakfast, it's fresh squeezed!

Song of the Sea was a very nice place to stay on Sanibel. We enjoyed the pool and the hot-tub.
It was not overly busy, it was just a great time of year. I enjoyed the flowers and some of the wildlife. The breakfast was really nice each morning and they did their very best to make us happy. the motel is situated right on the beach not far to walk to great shelling! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very accommodating! We will stay here again!

Great welcome by Cheryl, loved the free bikes, the pool, the beach. Room bigger than expected, very clean. Good restaurant recommendations. Useful to be able to use Sanibel Inn next door. We would definitely come back! Couldn't persuade my husband outside as The Masters was on! Good job they fixed the satellite the morning after it went down! Little pricier than I would have liked but it was still the busy season I suppose

Song of the Sea is a very relaxing resort. There are only 30 units which give it an intimate feel. Everyone is very friendly. You have access to the tiki bar at the sanibel Inn next door. Breakfast is included and there is a laundry on the property and bikes for your use even a tandem. If you are not relaxed when you leave this place then you need help.

Room Tip: The coastal king rooms are on the second level and have a great view of the Gulf

Song of the Sea was just perfect for my friend and I to just escape our busy lives back home! We were greeted like old friends by Cheryl at check in. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The screened in deck was wonderful for late evenings when we returned from dinner. We enjoyed a quiet week by the pool and lovely beach. Shelling was such fun and I brought home many to remind me of my first stay on Sanibel Island. My friend and I have every intention of returning to Song of the Sea when we need another break from our crazy, busy lives! Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Song of the Sea is intimate, quiet and charming, conveniently located off East Gulf Drive on the beach. Our room was attractively decorated with island-style furniture and Saltillo tile flooring. There was a small kitchen, table and chairs to enjoy the complimentary bottle of wine and two other large reading chairs with floor lamp. The bathroom was attractively updated. Sliding glass doors with wooden shutters open to a small screened lanai with chairs looking out toward the tropical landscaping and pool. We enjoyed drinks at the Sanibel Inn next door before going out to dinner. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast with fruit, yogurt, pastries, juice, excellent coffee and waffles on an attractively landscaping patio. We walked the beach and picked up shells. A special thanks to Cheryl, who called us in advance to welcome us and tell us to register the the Sanibel Inn since we were arriving after 5 pm. Cheryl gave us a warm welcome in person the next morning a breakfast. The perfect spot for a romantic visit to Sanibel.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Athens, an end room with windows on two sides.

Our stay at Song of the Sea was wonderful. Right from the start we knew we would have great service when we were greeted by Cheryl at check in. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room (in the Coastal King suite) was beautiful and the view was even better! We enjoyed time at the pool, beach, biking and walking to local restaurants and shops. We fell in love with Sanibel Island and can't wait to visit again. We will definitely stay at Song of the Sea when we return.
