I guess there is an elevator, but we took the stairs from the ground level to the museum. What a climb! Once inside, we were totally impressed. There are shells of all kinds, they are everywhere. We were particularly impressed by the mother of pearl inlaid furniture and the elaboratly decorated shell designs purportedly created by long at sea sailors for the loved ones back home. This museum is definitely worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our time at this museum! The mollusk movie was very informative and we talked about it for days while on the beach looking at all the shells. It made an impression! It was small inside but well-maintained. Lots of interactive areas for the kids. Very nice staff.

Great information and educational! Gorgeous shells and great atmosphere!
There are educational short movies to watch about the local mollusk that live in the waters in the area. The kids even get to go on a "treasure" hunt within the museum!

The number and variety of shells is impressive, especially because of the wonderful way they're organized and presented. This museum is quite sophisticated and informative. There are displays of how shells have been used and items of shell art on display, giant and miniature shells of all shapes and colors. Some dioramas too and a small auditorium shows movies. The adult admission price is $9 which seemed high. However, once inside I felt the price was worth it. I wish we had allowed more time for this. Just outside there is a picnic area so you could plan to bike in and bring a sack lunch as an option.

A must see is the carnival in the basement all made of shells. Lots of information on shells and all life in the sea.
