The excellent accommodations, charming hostess/owner Lisa and the central location to old town Sanford simply could not be any better. The attention to every detail and level of presentation to make us feel welcomed and pampered and all in an old style Victorian House was truly an amazing experience. Highly recommend The Higgins House if you need a place to stay for just an overnight stay or for a few days, you wouldn't be disappointed! Easy and safe walking distance to many of Sanford's finest restaurants and night life is a huge added bonus for any traveller.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and discovered the art of porch sitting.

Come back anytime, so we can pamper you some more.

We stayed here on 12/21/17 while attending a Christmas party in Sanford. Both the town and the Higgins House were a very pleasant surprise! The hotel is conveniently located in the historical area, and an easy walk to the main street where there are fun shops and a good selection of restaurants. Higgins House is lovely... well-decorated, the amenities plentiful, thoughtful and high-end, the snacks and food are wonderful, the bed was comfortable with beautiful linens, and everything is immaculately clean. Lisa, the owner, was very pleasant and accommodating in all things. She's an excellent cook! She was happy to make delicious gluten-free food for me - and her GF chocolate chip cookies were the best I've had anywhere. I'd make another trip to Sanford just to stay here again - would be a very pleasant getaway!

My wife and I are still describing this stay. The facility, owner/hostess Lisa and proximity to restaurants and shops was perfect. It starts the minute you walk inside this magnificent time capsule to the Victorian age. The detail, decor and furnishings are perfect.
During our stay we had the Willow Room. All the necessary toiletry items were stocked and top quality. My wife and I joked that our next visit we just needed to show up with our toothbrushes:). My wife also loved the big fluffy white robes.
The front veranda and rear garden entice you to stop and enjoy the wicker rockers as you have your morning coffee or evening beverage. Sitting on the front veranda you have an unspoiled view of the tranquil Centennial Park.
Lisa is a perfect hostess and fantastic cook to spoil you with her attention and homemade baked goods. It seemed like the home always smelled of sweet cinnamon rolls being made:)
It was just blocks to the main area of town where we had our choice of multiple shops, cafes and restaurants.
The Higgins House is located in the Historic District of Sanford where this home shows off its perfect landscaping and impeccable attention to detail.
All in all this was one of our favorite stays in both our North and South America travels.

Room Tip: Have both main level and upstairs rooms .

My husband and I spent one night at the Higgins House while on a bicycle tour of Central Florida. Our hostess, Lisa, was delightful and served an absolutely delicious breakfast. We loved hearing about the history of the B&B and the long term family connections. Our room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The entire B&B is beautifully decorated, but not overdone. We were within walking distance to the nighttime activity in downtown Sanford, including good restaurants and brew pubs. I highly recommend Higgins House, and we will definitely return!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! It was equally delightful to hear of your cycling adventures... they were very inspiring!
We welcome cyclists and other adventurers to visit our lovely area, and to make Sanford and the Higgins House a delightful base or respite stop for exploration and relaxation.

Regards, Lisa

This lovely well-maintained home was built by the owner's great grandfather. The house is on the National Register, of Historic Places, circa 1894. There are three beautifully appointed bedrooms with private baths with showers. Guests are welcome to use the living area, the sitting room with TV, the spacious front porch, or the lovely back yard. Our host Lisa Hurt was very gracious and prepared the best breakfast, so much more than we could eat. She started with fresh strawberries and mini-blueberry muffins. Then followed with slices of canteloupe, blueberries and blackberries beautifully presented. The breakfast continued with Baked Eggs, fresh tomatoes broiled with cheese, fresh home fries, and English Muffin. All served in the beautiful Victorian dining room. This was a lovely, relaxing experience. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Each room has a theme. The downstairs room has a walk-in shower; the upstairs rooms have claw foot tubs with showers.
