Had my mouth set for bratwurst. Our sausage was good but not notable. Sides of potato salad and sauerkraut, were just average. Red cabbage was good. Where is some nice German bread? Service was was good. Not a bad experience but not enough to bring us back.

“Looking for German? Stop here.”
Reviewed February 21, 2013

Made several trips back already. Authentic German food, not that sweet stuff you find in other establishments in Central Florida. The owner/chef is from Rhineland and he takes great pride in his cultural heritage.

The pretzel is a must have before dinner, and it is a perfect complement to the extensive selection of German beers. Sauerbraten served for dinner, schnitzel and sides.

It's pet friendly because they have a large patio area. Nice touch. The only reason I haven't given it an excellent rating is the disappointing desserts. The Black Forest is consistently good, not so much the German Chocolate (too much coconut & not enough butter), and the apple streudel was very doughy and chewy.

Still, we love it there and have taken friends and family who have also returned.

“Nothing German about this place”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

I have lived in Germany and this food was not. Service was non existent. Three other tables were seated after us - two people - and were all served their food before us. Oh how I wish
Bavarian Restaurant Bar and Grill in Longwood would open again...now THAT WAS A TRUE GERMAN Restaurant. Avoid this place!! Now if you want a good German Restuarant - and do not mind traveling about 30 minutes go to the Bauern-Stube Authentic German Restaurant. Look at their menu- http://www.bauern-stube.com/.

“Fine German food with an oom-pah atmosphere”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

If you enjoy German food, this is a great place for you. They have an oom-pah band playing most evenings, and they put on a terrific show, encouraging audience participation. The food includes all kinds of German specialties, and lots of great beer choices as well. The food was very good, with very large portions at quite reasonable prices. While they were quite busy, our service was friendly and prompt. The friends with us had never been there before and enjoyed the dinner and the atmosphere very much.

“Glad we went -- excellent German fare.”
Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

Downtown Sanford on Sunday afternoon we were surprised at the activity on Main Street. Hollerbach Willow Tree Cafe was alive with customers. We had to stop and dine. The knock wurst, potato salad and red cabbage was very good as was the Black and Tan beer. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
