This is a pleasant restaurant in downtown St. Pete, not far from the Dali Museum. We had no problem finding parking in the area.
The outside area is shaded and congenial in a quiet tropical courtyard and the inside is in a darker pub-like room. We had the lunch buffet for $10 which turned out to be a great deal. They had a couple of entrees (fish in coconut sauce and stir-fry chicken). There were hot vegetables sauteed in wine, potatoes, and rice, and then a whole salad area that included fruit and cheese tortellini. There was plenty for the vegetarian to eat, including a decent hummus (not home made) and a black bean salad.
Apart from the fruit, there was nothing else sweet on the buffet, but the cafe has desserts on the menu.
The decor is pleasant and apart from some giggling ladies a few tables away, it was relatively quiet and peaceful -- a perfect get away from the hot, bustling city. Service was quick and efficient and friendly.

1st time to cafe Alma, we were looking for a unique experience along with live entertainment. Regretfully they no longer have Friday night live musicians as mentioned on their website. Dinner experience mediocre at best. Fried green tomato appetizer with only 3 small tomatoes came plated with mostly spring salad at $7.00. Two glasses of middle of the road cab sauv @ $12.00 each, dinner ceasar salad @ $ 13.00 with overabundance of crouton, dinner pasta linguini with herbs and jumbo shrimp was so bland it was sent back for a reinfusion per my request. If you intend on advertising a dish with "jumbo shrimp", please don't present with a handful of medium shrimp. Our waiter, very attentitive appeared frustrated as well. We are not adverse to dropping $100.00 for a dinner for 2, but when the highlight of the experiencewas the mussel appetizer, that's unfortunate. :-(

We happend to stumble on this place being the first decent place just after we parked our car on our day trip to St Petersburg.

Being early afternoon on a Monday, we were the only guests. The place has potential, but I guess we were there at a bad time.

We tried the fixed price menu but I've had better. Decent deal but much to choose from if you're picky like me. I see they change the menu from time to time - that's good.

The server was cool, even knew European soccer - which was fun!

Free wifi.

The waiter was clumsy and spilled a dish full of sauce on my dining partner! Very loud and the restaurant was not fully, the half priced bottles of wine made arather mediocre experience more palatable. The roch shrimp tapas were delicious. The ahi tuna was bland with no flavor. The fried green tomatoes were soggy and greasy. The mussels I white wine sauce were very good.

Eat, enjoy, and spend some time, or if you need to get back to the office it works too. Try their Tapas night.
