Hilton St Petersburg Bayfront

Like a previous poster, I was concerned by reviews of this hotel. Almost everything was top notch starting with the beautiful lobby. Our room was clean and quiet and had a wonderful view. Courtesy transportation was available in the vicinity which came in handy for going to a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. The swimming pool was terrific and morning continental breakfast in the restaurant was acceptable though unremarkable. The only negatives were the poor selection of evening snacks in the concierge lounge and a strange front desk clerk.

This hotel needs a lot of work bar the renovations that are ongoing. Staff were mostly helpful but their entire manner lacked professionalism. Poor guys are made were badges saying 'are we a ten' which says it all. Needs new management with proper training. Pool area is fine but bland. Room was huge but out of date. Bathroom had no window or fan. Foyer spectular but dated. Beach is a 10 minute drive away.
Nice hairdressers and beauticians there which is extremely handy.
Would not recommend....

I stayed at the St. Peterburg Hilton even after viewing other very negative comments about the hotel on other websites. The price was right and the room was very quiet and clean. The hotel was undergoing remodeling but the hotel manager was right in the lobby all day long for the three days I stayed there and let guests use the elevators before the poor contractors carrying materials. The dining was good and the pool was big and clean. I would return there again and recommend it to others. The pier is close and there are numerous good dining places within walking distance.

Happy from Arizona

This Hilton is definitely unique and your assumption of what other Hiltons are like...should be disregarded. Yes, there was construction as another reviewer mentioned. While the construction was on the 9th floor we were placed on the 11th floor. I woke up to the lovely sound of drills...oh but the location is great, close to the beach...if you don't mind viewing it with blood shot eyes from lack of sleep and rest. Did I mention the bathroom did not have a fan and the windows can't be even cracked open...so if you want to shower the room will be steamy and damp. The biggest mistake we made was to go through ""Orbitz"" to make our reservation. We called and asked them to cancel our reservation from the following day and that we were unhappy with the hotel. Orbitz's so called "travel specialist" specialize in nothingness. We were told they needed to research the matter and that it would take them 2-3 days!! When we asked for a manager...none were available? They said we signed the contract therefore no refund, despite the fact that they failed to tell us the entire hotel is being renovated. Finally, the hotel manager moved us to the 14th floor, a better room with a better view, which had a fan in the bathroom. But honestly one thing that was really great was the service…first night (prior to complaints) I ordered a plate of fruits and few minutes later we got a phone call asking us if the order was satisfactory. The hotel manager was also helpful and very polite and really did try to accommodate us. However take this helpful hint, if you ask for room service make sure to get it all in one order because it cost $2.95 per delivery and add a 20% room service charge (tip) whether or not you liked the service!

Was there for a wedding. There were bedbugs in 2 of four rooms. We got bit during the night, and found a couple in the sheets when we turned the lights on. Staff was unhelpful. Will NOT return to this hotel.

We just returned from a week in St. Petersburg, where we went primarily to enjoy spring training ball games, and chose to stay at this hotel. Like others who posted reviews here, we booked through priceline. Frankly, I don't understand the fuss. When one is paying $50/night for a downtown hotel, there is precious little room to criticize the quality of the hotel's carpeting, etc.
Our room (on the unrenovated 11'th floor) was spacious and cleaned daily. I don't recommend the hotel's restaurant (overpriced and mediocre, like many hotel eateries). However, the hotel's location was perfect for us, downtown within walking distance of many nice restaurants and shops, and directly across the street from the Devil Rays' spring training facility, where we could watch games from our window!
The hotel has a large heated pool and lovely hot tub, which we used at least once each day. The staff are pleasant and helpful, and whatever minor difficulties we encountered were handled promptly and courteously.
As mentioned in an earlier review, the hotel is NOT a beach resort. St. Pete Beach is an entirely separate town, about 40 minutes away. The Hilton is, however, a centrally located place to stay in downtown St. Pete, and a good value. In fact, the room cost less than our rental car for the week!
