“Good location for walkers, OK rooms”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2008

I found it a bit pricey(160) for an OK room. The hotel itself is lovely and that is what you are paying for. Pool is nice nothing special. We did have to call several times and one day our room not cleaned till we left for dinner. We enjoyed a cigar bar two blocks away.Several restaurants were good at the baywalk. We had a decent dinner at Gratzzis Risorante and two good lunches at Johnny Rocketsand too Jays. The Pier was fun and worth the hike (need good shoes it is a good ways away) Parking at hotel was no problem and $10 a day which can add up but we have been charged $20 at other Hilton (niagra) and you are in a Downtown area. We found parking in downtown difficult. We were on the 14th executive level and the breakfast was just OK. Not much more than a Hampton Inn puts out. My major beef was I never had more than luke warm showers and it ruined the stay for me. All in all it is a fun place to investigate but be aware there is an abundance of what appear to be homeless people and they aggresively pan handle everywhere.

I booked several rooms as well as the Presidential Parlor for a group reunion that was held last weekend. From the first contact, nine months ago, everyone was incredibly helpful making sure all my many, many details were taken care of. And, all I can say is they deserve a 10+ for making this a perfect weekend. The rooms were clean, beds were totally upscale in comfort and the Presidential Parlor is the perfect gathering room for our large "pajama party". We were able to walk to all of the museums and shopping and a shuttle was provided to take us to our dinner reservations. I could not have asked for a more perfect weekend.

I was very impressed with the hotel. This was my first stay at a Hilton so I can't speak to how it compares to others. the staff were very friendly and most helpful. The lobby is very nice. My room was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small but still well appointed and nice. I was able to get free wifi, however it was a bit slow and had trouble connecting to their network. They do have ethernet hookup, but it is 9.99 per night. My only complaint would be that they charge $12 per night for parking and it is not a secured area. There is a gate to the lot, but it was not in use. I was able to get the room for 85 a night through priceline, so for that price I was very pleased.

Stayed here for a conference. Workers were generally friendly aside from one exception. The hotel restaurant had a nice lunch buffet and EXCELLENT desserts. Listen to Dennis, the concierge, he will NOT steer you wrong on places to go, eat and do. The spa was nice and affordable. Pool was nice, but the pool bar wasn't open when I was out by the pool. The lobby is nice with a lot of comfy sofas and chairs to sit and chat with friends. There are fresh oranges all over the place and the place smells orangy. If you're there during Spring training, the Rays play right across the street. I had a box shipped there which was delivered 3 days after it was delivered - and I had to stand there while they looked for it (rolls into the one staff person who seemed much less than helpful). Meeting rooms were nice (near the Starbucks for a quick pick-me-up). Overall rating was ok, but like others said, not up to regular Hilton quality. Try to get on a higher floor or you might have a view of the AC units. I was on the 11th and had a nice view of the bay.

The Hilton at St. Pete is inflexible. Priceline is also very difficult to work with. After the death of a family member of a friend joing me in St. Pete at this hotel. Neither would cancel the reservation. The worst part is that I had to call housekeeping every single day (a 7 night stay) for the room to be cleaned, Second, I was charged without option $12/night for parking. A short phone call added to BIG money. I do not recommend anyone stay here. There are a lot of other places to stay in the area. Don't be fooled by Hilton's web site.

  • Liked — not much
  • Disliked — infexibiility, having to call housekeeping each day, $12/night parking, too pricey for what you get

The room is ok, not great, but not bad either. If you need a decent high speed connection, you won't be happy here. The internet performance is awful. They actually charge $9.95 per day and it's generally slower than a dialup and has long pauses where it does nothing.

The executive lounge is one of the nicest I've seen. It overlooks the bay. All staff in the lounge were a perfect 10, Especially the lady in the morning. She was wearing a button that said 8=0. I asked what that meant, and she told me a customer rating of 8 was no better than 0, so they strived for 9's or 10.

I was given a late check out. The location, property, and room were great.

Well run hotel. Better experience than I had at the Vinory for 100 less per night.
