“Lovely hotel in Downtown St. Pete”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2011

I stay at this hotel yearly for a sci-fi convention and its always top notch. The staff is friendly and helpful, the restaurants are tasty and there us a Starbuck just past the lobby. The rooms are very comfortable (though standard for a Hilton). I also live right across the bay, so I know the are pretty well.

The location is a perfect spot to see some of the best of the downtown St. Pete area. You can pick a beer up at The Independent, grab a burrito at Burrito Boarder and catch a show at Jannus Landing, all within walking distance. If you've lucky enough to stay over a on a Friday night, the St. Pete Saturday Morning market is right across the street every Sat from Sept-May where you can check out dozens of local vendors.

I just stayed at this Hilton for three days and had a great stay. Ok just one little glitch there was a fire alarm at 11:30 one night but quickly resolved. Nice amenities including a nice breakfast spread for elite members. Very helpful and accommodating staff for the meetings I attended. The room was very nice with a great view. Wonderful to walk to the new Dali museum and downtown.

I stay at the Hilton family of hotels frequently and as a Diamond member I am usually well taken care of, but this wonderful property exceeded my high expectations.

I was initially concerned that the suite I received, which was located behind the elevator bank, would be too noisy because I am very sensitive to noise, but the room was comfortable and quiet. The staff, at every level and location was friendly, attentive and generally a joy to interact with.

It is an older property with some small wear and tear issues but everything functioned properly and was clean. The 15th floor has a wonderful lounge with a delightfully attentive staff and a panoramic view of the bay and the city.

The hotel is in a quiet area with plenty of spaces for running, walking and getting out to enjoy the weather. Although the location lacks a nearby beach, the pool area is a great place for a cooling dip or just a place to lay in the sun. There are plenty of restaurants and 'The Pier', which extends out into the bay, is an easy walk from the hotel (in cool weather).

A beachfront location would be the only thing that would make me add "Perfect" to this property.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the bay for some wonderful views. The higher, the better.

We stayed 6 nights and found the staff to be friendly and attentive. The hotel restaurant, "Tangerine", serves an very complete breakfast buffet, which includes individually prepared items such as omelets. Located within walking distance of downtown St. Pete and several museums. The lobby, dining room, and convention areas are well appointed. Minor deferred maintenance was apparent in our room. Comfortable beds with superior linens but bulky pillows.

After being put in a room overlooking the roof, we asked to be moved to a room with a view. The front desk did this right away and with a smile. The location is great: right on the trolley line, or if you are a walker, there is a path along the waterfront and lots of safe, clean streets that lead to lots of shopping, restaurants, and attractions. If you go out the side door and across the parking lot towards the back of the hotel you will see a Subway, Publix, and CVS.

To avoid confusion, look at a map to figure out the difference between all the sound alike streets: 1st Street, 1st Avenue, 2nd Street East, 2nd Street West, and so on.

We ate at and enjoyed Moon Underwater (a British pub), Fresco's Waterfront Bistro (great fish), and the Red Mesa Cantina (more than your basic Mexican fare). The Dali Museum was worth the visit.

Super Shuttle from the Tampa airport is $23 each way. We never missed having a car.

Rooms look real tired and definitely need a makeover. I am a Hilton Gold member and expected to be treated with the amenities as promised a Gold member and certainly was not. The TV barely worked the whole time and I heard a lot of other people attending the COMMON conference say the same thing. I ordered room service one night, the shrimp and scallops skewer with lava cake for desert and it was so bad I ate just a few bites and still had to run out somewhere to get dinner. Really made me mad considering the price of the room service meal. Good thing - Starbuck's right there in the hotel. The view of the bay was awesome though but not enough to make me want to stay there ever again.

I stayed here 1 night in 2 rooms with my Father and 2 Brothers to take in a Rays/Red Sox game. The hotel is very nice and in a great downtown location. Parking is a bit of a bummer at $12.00/day but there is a public lot across the street and ample street parking. They were very nice at check in and located 2 rooms that were next to each other for us and informed us there was a free shuttle to the stadium. Shuttle service to the stadium was great but a bit unorganized on the way back. Rooms were clean and comfortable with a large TV, desk, phone and a nice clean bathroom. Nice bar area and sitting area in the lobby to relax after the game. All in all, a very nice stay at a resonable price.

Room Tip: Free Shuttle to Tropicana Field
