I was at this hotel for a family wedding. Now I’ve stayed at my share of budget hotels. This one was not at all good from any standards. There are many hotels in this category that provide reasonable and stylish comfort. Not here.
The rooms are pretty dingy with one small window. The breakfast area was a few mismatched tables and chairs thrown in. The hotel isn’t close to much, beach or anything. It’s just off the highway.
My guess for the positive reviews on TA is that the hotel incentivizes customers to review. If you show a posted review you get 2 snacks of 2 non alcoholic beverages. Now I doubt anyone who wants to get this freebie is going to show them a poor review.
If you must stay here, stay across at the holiday inn express.

Nice place, well maintained. Everything works (TV, WiFi), everything in good condition and clean.
The only thing that wasn’t so great was some constant buzzing noise from the electrical room (which was located next to our room, behind the wall). However, with A/C fan turned on, it wasn’t hearable anymore. Perhaps we could have asked to move to another room, but we didn’t.
Good stay overall. Decent breakfast, free parking. Yes, they do offer incentives to write reviews, but I think the incentive doesn't depend on how positive/negative it is.

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel. The room was a decent size for a Comfort Inn. Staff members were friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was pretty good. The only thing I'd suggest is some variety with the eggs (the same style every morning). My wife enjoyed the hydro-massage chair - the complimentary trial was a nice touch. If wee come back this way, we'll stay here again. Good price for a good stay.

My small group of 5 people spent two nights in St Pete's to visit museums and walk around. the weather was fantastic.
We stayed at the Comfort Inn on 54th Ave. The people there are wonderful. Our kudos go to Allen, who kept us happy at the bar, and helped us with planning meals and destinations. He is very outgoing and pleasant.

We booked this hotel based solely on TripAdvisor reviews. After staying in this dump, my speculation is that travelers are writing good reviews in order to get snacks offered to guests for writing reviews (I tried to contact TripAdvisor to notify them of this practice but it's like Ft Knox trying to reach a rep.) While the sign posted in the hotel doesn't specify it has to be a good review, who is going to show them a bad one for free stuff? As other reviews state, the staff is very friendly. That does not make up for worn stained carpets; stained comforter covers! (Ewwwww); black mold in bathroom; terrible water pressure (barely above a trickle); worn down mattress with springs digging into us; and paper thin walls! I will say the cleaning crew does pretty well given the shabby conditions. However, there were also stains on the bathroom door including makeup and what looked like dried blood??!!? We paid $158 including tax for this horrible experience!! I would NEVER stay here again!!!! Don't believe all these glowing reviews. I gave two stars instead of one for the friendly staff, the decent breakfast (hard to enjoy after sleeping on a slanted mattress with bedsprings digging into you all night), and the fact it is rated a 2.5 star hotel. Normally I would not stay in less than a 3 star (not because I'm a hotel snob but just because generally they're cleaner in my experience) but again the reviews were so glowing I feel I was deceived into paying 3 or 4 star prices for a dump!! I definitely do not recommend this hotel.
