We've tried this place twice now, and both times, it was just okay. This last time we went, I ordered what they called the tomato bisque. It was more like a tomato puree. There was no cream in it whatsoever, and the very definition of bisque is that it is creamy. There are better restaurants in the area. I'd pass.

The experience was great. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait, but no sooner had we gotten our drinks from the bar than our table was ready. For appetizers, we shared the mussels and the ahi tuna carpaccio. The mussels were quite a large serving and delicious. The only problem was that it came with two tiny pieces of toast. If our server had brought us the delicious fresh baked bread that a super friendly and efficient manager later got for us, it would have been no problem. We needed something to soak up the delicious broth! The tuna carpaccio was quite tasty with a tiny bit of heat. The tuna slices were not dressed evenly, however, and the pieces on either end were a bit dry. We shared the pistachio crusted salmon, which had wonderful flavors and textures.

Bella Brava has become my go-to restaurant in downtown St Pete. What keeps drawing me back is their excellent varied menu as well as moderate pricing. When the weather permits, we love to sit outside and people watch. Makes every meal feel like a special occasion!
