Demens Landing has always been that relaxation spot for us when downtown. A mostly un-eventful park, it's usually nice, clean and out of the way for us locals. Like most parks in Florida, it's quite plain, but yet very pretty. Nice view of that ugly old downtown pier and the Albert Whitted Airport runway. Restrooms on site for the public, others are locked and only for people with boat slips. I think USF has a marine biology building there too. Very few of the bums hang out there. They are all over at Williams Park at 1st Ave North and 4th Street if you wish to contribute some spare change.
Take your camera, as you can get some nice picturesque photos there. Benches and a couple of picnic tables by the water are nice if you take a lunch. Small kids playground. No demons though! Demens was a pilot or some rich guy resident from years past. Good place for the soul !
