Owner description: The largest Farmers Market in the southeast United States, with over 200 vendors rotating through 135 spaces. An extraordinary selection of prepared food, great crafts, plants, flowers, and more. A wonderful selection of produce straight from the farm. Live music every week, and lots of tables to hang out and enjoy a great sense of community. Come see what many people say is the best thing to ever happen in St Petersburg.

“Yummy!!!”
Reviewed January 30, 2009

I am so glad I found this activity through trip advisor. It has a new location at the Al Lang Stadium Parking lot at the corner of First Avenue South and First Street. Market hours I believe are 1000 to 1400. I love outdoor markets and this one was great. There were nice selections of fresh fruits and vegetables from the nearby area (we bought strawberries, grapefruits and kumquats). There was one particular vendor there selling coconuts at various stages of ripeness: some are almost nothing but milk inside, milk and soft coconut, and then what we were use to which is minimal milk and hard coconut…fun to try one of each. I recommend you check out all the rows of vendors selling food; there is a huge variety and most all were very tempting. There was barbecue, crepes, Thai, bakery items, turkey legs, empanadas, coffee, meat pastries, and plenty else. The prices were about what I expected for an open market, much like what I would pay at a country fair. There was a nice amount of tables set up with people more than willing to share the space. Live entertainment included musicians and street entertainers. Other vendors sold clothes (our group of moms and teens went crazy over the batik tops and sundresses), jewelry, lawn chairs, and everything in between. While quite crowded, everyone was nice, nice, nice! It was a great way to spend half a Saturday. Bring cash too, not every vendor took credit cards.

“Definitely Visit”

A good array of foods and crafts. Open October-April and located downtown close to everything. I love buying my produce here and trying the food offered.

“Make sure to make time for this - it is only in the morning”
Reviewed October 11, 2005

We stumbled on this one morning in Downtown St. Pete and made the mistake of saying that we would swing back by after going to the Pier. Believe it or not, this is only in the morning. After lunch time it is gone.

They close down the street for one city block in front of Progress Energy and the vendors set up in three rows - one row down the middle of the street and one on either sidewalk. Vendors sell food, produce, plants, framed art, original clothing and accessories, candles, fresh herbs and knick knacks. It's amazing how much cool stuff is there is such a small area. They are not all local merchants, either. We bought scented soy candles from a couple from up north.

It runs from the beginning of October to the end of May.
