I've been to Hooks several times, now, including 2 lunches (one on $1 Sushi Wednesday) and a dinner. The sushi has been reliably good every time. Wednesdays are a little crazy and the $1 menu is limited. But even with their regular lunch prices you can get out feeling satisfied for $10-12. Service is friendly although a bit rushed as you'd expect on Wednesdays. And they were willing to split up checks for our group of 6 - one time NOT including an 18% gratuity (we tipped substantially more) and the next time with it. I realize not everyone understands how to reward great service, but we tipped more when it wasn't included.
Dinner was fabulous. They weren't incredibly busy, so the waitperson kept our drinks refreshed while we caught up with long-time friends we hadn't seen for several months. And the sushi we ordered was freshly prepared and delicious. In fact, even though we weren't still really hungry, we ordered a couple more rolls just because they tasted so good.
Highly recommend and that fact that they seem to ALWAYS be so much busier than the "other" sushi restaurant across the street is a great sign you're in for a good meal and experience.
