“Hidden BBQ spot”
Reviewed July 18, 2014 via mobile

We went here after seeing a movie across the street at Muvico. I looked for a place that was close enough to walk to and this was it. The Plaza Shops was pretty quiet and we headed up to the second floor where this BBQ place is. There was only one other couple inside this large indoor restaurant. You order up front and then they call you to pick up your food. Everything was very good with a large selection of sauces to change things up a bit. The food is served on cafeteria style trays with the meat in aluminum foil and sides in plastic containers. I'm always concerned when I see a restaurant so empty on Wednesday night at 7pm. They've been open over a year so maybe it's busier on the weekends when their companion spot, Witches Brew downstairs is busy. Overall we all liked it and would probably come back again.

Thank Kipkay

“Ok, the selection of sauces is good.”
Reviewed May 28, 2014 via mobile

Went here after a morning of museums in St. Pete. Tis place has several different kinds of BBQ sauce that you can choose. I had the chicken which was ok, and the sausage which were little breakfast sausage sized. It was ok but seemed a little over done. I got the greens and I ate them mostly because I was hungry. This place is ok, and maybe I'm used to TX BBQ but this place was just ok. The service was good and they had a BBQ buffet if you are interested.

“Best BBQ in St. Pete”
Reviewed May 25, 2014

Easily the best BBQ in St. Petersburg. Prices are pretty reasonable, especially the lunch buffet where you can pretty much try everything on the menu (and more) for less than $10. This is owned by the same guy that owns the Ale and the Witch across the courtyard, so you can take your food over there and eat it if you like. They have live music in the courtyard every night.

“Gem of a BBQ Place!”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Wow were we surprised to find out that our very favorite place to have a beer and listen to music in St. Pete has an excellent BBQ restaurant overlooking it! The pulled pork was moist and delicious, but the sides were absolutely the best - tasted like something your Grandmother would make (if she was Paula Deen) - mouthwatering collard greens, sweet potato casserole and to-die-for mac and cheese. Can't wait to go back, we won't bother going elsewhere for dinner before going to listen to music at the Witch - we will eat, drink and be merry at one location!

“BBQ in St Pete!”
Reviewed January 19, 2014

This was our first time at the Witches BBQ Den. Our intention was to go and sit outside so we could hear the live music but it was too cold. The atmosphere inside is not much but outside with the live music is great! You walk up to the counter and order and wait for them to bring your food and everything is served in plastic containers or in throw away metal containers. . .the environmentalist in me cringed! The prices are decent and we had a coupon for a free side. The shrimp and cheddar jalapeño grits appetizer was really good (and I added a side which made it a meal and you can add on a side for only $1.50). My husband and a combo plate of pulled pork and brisket, both were very good once their homemade sauces were added but the meat was not hot. We also had a side of mac and cheese which was cold but when we told and employee they brought us another side which was hot and we added some of their Florida sauce which made it really good! We also tried the greens and they had some type of gravy with them which was interesting with a little too much vinegar. The shrimp while delicious was a little salty for my taste. We'll be sure to eat there on a night when it's warm enough to enjoy the outdoor live music and we'll be sure next time to ask for everything to be re-heated if not hot enough.
