The joint was jumpin' on New Year's Eve! Went local to hear one of our neighbors (a keyboardist/singer) entertain a packed room early on New Year's Eve. This was our first visit to this restaurant. We were not disappointed.
Situated in a small, boutique hotel (The Hollander), the Tap Room is a cozy but sophisticated venue. It offers both inside and sidewalk dining options. We opted for inside since we were there for the music and had a somewhat large group (10 people.) We sat in a living room-style section of the lounge with overstuffed chairs and sofa. We almost felt like we were at home, it was so comfortable. AND, the music by "Bill's Night Out" was GREAT!
With plentiful-poured drinks, we had an assortment of appetizers since we were going to other parties where full buffets would be available. The Buffalo chicken wings were meaty and nicely spiced. The flatbread BBQ chicken pizza was a little too crispy (singed) on the bottom, but otherwise was tasty. The Asian won-tons were good, but a little "dough-ee" for my taste. Portions were good sized. Overall, the appetizers gave us some pleasing "eats" while not filling us.
We'll definitely be returning here often as we're spending a good bit more time, now, in downtown St. Pete. We've made a FINE new discovery that's a welcome addition to our list of favorite places in Tampa Bay.
