Our group of 5 had reservations on a Saturday night. We came early for the "1925" special, soup or salad, choice from 4 entres and desserts. We all had the winter squash which was delicious although one of our part thought it was too spicy. Three had corned short ribs and two had chicken oso buco, all very tasty and portions were generous. The wine by the glass recommended with each course was good. For dessert we had a warm pear pie and a chocolate dessert, again all very good. Our waitress was good, not very personable but efficient.

Quiet atmosphere, elegant n relaxed, excellent service, really a First Class restaurant.
Excellent Red Wine Choice, Acrobat Pinot Noir!!! Sea Scallops, Chicken, Salmon are excellent choices in the Menu. The Bread was wonderful and the butter spreads even better!
Highly recommended as three of us spent less than $200 with dinner & drinks and just one of the best evenings of our life!

Met friends for dinner on special occasion. Food preparation was special. My wife and her brother each had tilefish for the first time. A winner. It was like grouper and prepared like Chilean sea bass. I had diver scallops. Five large and perfectly prepared scallops. Starters were fun and special. A winter squash soup with Greek yogurt was bursting with delightful flavor. Pricey but a treat when possible. Only negative was surprise change in music to '70s-style disco late into dinner hour.

We stayed in the Vinoy for a week, had breakfast in this restaurant every day as well as high tea and one dinner. This has been an annual trip for my family for the last decade, so we have a good baseline of experiences over a long time.

Marchand's is a beautiful restaurant. The decor and room is delightful. The hand painted murals which are directly inspired by the ruins in Pompeii are singular in any space I've seen. The dining room is spacious and while the furniture is tired, it doesn't draw down the atmosphere.

The food at breakfast is fine. Depending on the day, the kitchen can be very slow. Service is very uneven. Some waitstaff are very good and helpful. Others are bored and not very interactive. On this trip it took 6 mornings before a waitress offered gluten free toast to our son- even though we tell waitstaff everywhere that he can't eat wheat. Coffee, tea and juice refills were spotty. From what I can see, the restaurant has cut staff and this shows.

High tea was billed as a special event and it wasn't. The staff was unprepared, didn't seem interested and were rather inattentive. The food was nothing special. Although the offerings seemed to be made for the tea, they were clumsy, flavorless and the bread was dry. The pastry was too sweet and also clumsy. Tea was served in the same pots used at breakfast and used the same bagged teas. It was nothing special but it cost $90 for three, tip was included on the check.

Dinner was mixed. They have winter menu with specials. From the restaurant's menu from 1925 and they cost $19.25. The regular menu has entrees priced in the high $20's in $30's. In this restaurant, this felt contrived. The special menu tasted okay, but used cheap cuts of meat- chicken osso bucco for example was braised chicken legs. They were okay at that price, but it was odd to have that in the same restaurant as the $36 filet. Ah, and the filet, ordered rare, came medium, was sent back once and came back as a different, now limp piece of meat. The service was excellent that night, but the food and menu were not close to what one expects at this price.

I really like this place and it's unfortunate to give it a poor review. The hotel has been slipping over the past few years and dramatically from last year to this. I hope management pulls the restaurant together soon. In the meantime, there are many excellent places to eat within walking distance of this hotel.

We liked the soup and the corn beef ribs in particular. This is a good place to eat at the bar and watch a game, or to have a romantic dinner. A cut above most hotel restaurants.
