“Hollander Hotel, the best wheelchair accessible room I've ever stayed in.”
Reviewed April 24, 2013

I stayed at the Hollander with my wife and daughter for the Tampa Bay Blues Fest in Vanoy Park, April 12-15. This accessible room was by far was the best place we stayed on our vacation in Fla.. The 1 bedroom suite was huge and the price was great at $99 a night, It had a full kitchen and this room would go for $189+ a night anywhere. The wheelchair accessible bathroom was the best of any hotel I've ever stayed in, extra large roll in shower and plenty of room to maneuver my chair. Very clean and the service was really great, the owner and staff couldn't do enough for us. The Hollander has a great restaurant and bar in the lobby and the food is top notch. Also plenty of free onsite parking. As I said I was in town for the Blues fest in Vanoy Park and the Hollander is w/in walking distance to the park. It's also a 5 minute walk to the Palladium Theatre where the Blues Fest after shows are held each night after the blues fest get over. It was a pleasure staying at the Hollander and I wish I could have stayed an extra couple days after seeing how nice it is. Skip the chain hotels and stay in a real St. Petersburg landmark.

Friendly staff did little to help when our car was towed from the hotel lot, costing us $160. Yes, they comped our breakfast to make amends, but that was small compensation. Rooms are clean but pretty bare. Bathrooms are tiny. There is a lively night scene.

Room Tip: I would choose a room in a different hotel.

We enjoyed Having the guest in our Hotel, We recommended several Restaurants in the area for them to dine, offered shuttle service, however the parking situation was NOT in our control, They did NOT park in our lots, they parked in an area that is NOT maintained by us, or owned by us.. We did comp the groups breakfast, And I ( The GM) drove the couple to pick up their car a few miles away to help out, because We do care about each and every guest that walks through our doors.. We are in downtown and their are parking laws that we all need to follow, Prior to the incident, the guest in question raved about every aspect of our hotel..

We visit St. Petersburg often and were traveling with friends. Our usual hotel was not available for the weekend due to the Blues Festival, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we found the Hollander Hotel.

What a great place, from the warm and friendly greeting upon arrival, the quick service, the very eclectic décor’ this place is truly wonderful.

The rooms are nicely appointed, I would not call them fancy, but very clean and very comfortable. If there was one thing that I would say needs some improvement is the bathroom and most of that can be solved by an expanded shower curtain. Everything is period or original which really adds to the charm.

We will definitely be back

some hotels i can't check out of soon enough....and some hotels i want to move into....this is a hotel i could live in! it has everything: a beautiful bar/restaurant in the lobby, delicious coffee from the coffee shop, a spa for massages, pedi's and facials, and a giant veranda with comfortable tables, chairs and couches. the rooms are cheerful, clean and comfortable. the staff (everyone of 'em) laid back and oh so friendly! all withing walking distance of the sunken gardens, museums, waterfront bars and restaurants and tropicana field....absolutely perfect. can't wait to go back.
sincerely,
miss julie

We live in St Petersburg and the Hollander Hotel is our new favorite go-to place for friends and family. The hotel is small enough that they don't feel invisible, but busy enough that they don't feel like they are a guest in a home (the b&b experience). The Tap Room is great with excellent food. It can be loud during Happy Hour and when they have entertainment, but the outside porch is a great place to relax and you can converse, order food and cocktails and enjoy your meal in relative quiet. The walk to Beach Drive and all that St Petersburg has to offer is pleasant, and if you want they will transport you in their electric car. The Hollander Hotel is a wonderful addition to St Pete!

Room Tip: Try to get an upper floor, the first floor can be a little noisy from parking lot traffic and people...

Easy to find from the airport. Older renovated hotel. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Rooms smaller with some perks but if anything else was needed staff helped (iron/blow dryer etc..). pillows great! Coffee shop and restaurant / bar great and avg. price. Entertainment. Sitting area on main level- awesome both inside and out. Parking limited but always found a spot. Downtown within walking distance.

This hotel is really cool. We live north of Tampa near Spring Hill, a long drive for a nice dinner out, and we have a dog so we looked for pet friendly. This place was such a great surprise, easy to get to, close to many things we wanted to do and see. Our dog was allowed on the porch when we had dinner. Our room was nice and clean. We hit the Saturday Market so it was nice to have the little refrigerator for our perishable purchases. There was a pep rally for the Rays and this hotel offered a shuttle to the Trop so next time we stay here we will take in a game. Definitely coming back. Too bad the restaurant here was not our favorite but we did enjoy the coffee shop. They give dog treats!
