We decided to stop in more for the adults than the family and while a beautiful garden area it does lend itself better to adults than families. Be sure to buy the Koi food for a $1/pkg if going with kids. They'll get a kick out of feeding the fish. The flowers and landscaping was a nice oasis in the middle of the city.

We visited this not really planning to and really enjoyed how well kept up it was and the place was very enjoyable to visit and easy to walk around. I would recommend going to anyone interested in plants, and gardening. We had a coupon for BYG1Free so it was nice to have that also

Took the drive from Brandon over to St. Pete (40 minutes) to visit Sunken Gardens Sunday 2/23/2014. This is a wonderful place to visit, very quite and relaxing. It's well kept and clean for a place that's 100 years old. There are many places where you can just sit and take in the beautiful scenery. There are also picnic tables, and there were several families enjoying those. You can bring in food as they don't sell it, this would be a GREAT place to bring the little ones and enjoy a nice lunch outside, hint grand parents! If you are into photography this is a must visit.

Hidden away behind a hotel in St Petersburg is this lovely Sunken Garden. You can take a meandering walk through this place and really get away from it all EXCEPT for the loud, irritating steel drum music that is located in the center of the garden and permeates the entire place. Perhaps that music is not always there. I can't imagine why they would destroy the solitude and beauty of this place by imposing such music on the visitor.
