What a joy to find a pocket park that is lovely. It also has benches if you wish to sit and enjoy or eat lunch.

They have beautifully landscaped hundreds of varieties of palm trees, from small little cardboard palms, up to queen palms, and a beautiful Alexander palm into curving secluded pathways. Hard to believe you're just feet from busy Northshore Drive. It's in Northshore Park, so parking is good. Days are safe, and there's Northshore Pool which has dressing area with showers. About two blocks away is the Presbyterian Church with an inspirational giant stained glass--very modern design. The whole park along the TampaBay waterfront goes from Coffee Pot Bayou to the Renaissance Vinoy.

If you are interested in plants or if you are looking for a tropical backdrop for some photos, this is a great free place to visit. Free parking too and easy access as long as there is not some big event going on along the downtown waterfront. Just don't expect the kids to be entertained--this is a garden, not an amusement park. This palm garden is owned by the City of St. Petersburg. It is part of a lovely system of parks along the downtown waterfront.

This arboretum has palms from all over the world, What a multitude of forms, some bizzar to our eyes. It doesn't cost anything, The place provides shade and insight (although there must be nightly vandals around who pull out information signs). It might invite for a little meditation, situated in a lovely place across from the beach and North Shore Pool.

This is a collection of palm trees from many lands: China, Hawaii, Mexico, etc. Seeing them together, it's possible to discern similarities and differences in the leaves, trunks and so on. Most are labeled; the sheer variety is what added to my enjoyment. It's free and a walk through takes six minutes to as long as you want to spend. Easy to find, free parking, bathroom nearby. More people should visit the Arboretum and St. Petersburg should promote it.
