Great location 4 sure, rooms nice, toilets too small and too old, bed sheets with big holes. Wi fi in the rooms not available (even if concierge says the opposite). About the rate, it was average
- Free Wifi
- Breakfast included
I wouldn't stay on the 2nd or 3rd floors. The hotel is built on top of a restaurant, which is on top of a bar. Its probably OK on a weeknight, but on the weekends, the loud bass thumping won't stop until 2am. I felt like I was back at college with my annoying neighbor jamming out to all hours of the night.
We did get them to move us to the 6th floor for the last 2 nights of the stay, but only after arguing with the staff and threatening to check out early. 6th floor is great for the view, but it reeked of the oil used to cook the apparently tasty tapas at the aforementioned restaurant.
I definietly agree. You get what you pay for, so beware.
I stayed in the Ponce de Leon hotel this weekend, and I would definitely go back. We got a great rate, and although our room was on the small side, it was clean, cute, and had everything we needed. If you enjoy an older hotel with a little more character and history, this place is for you. We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful, and very much enjoyed the fact that we could walk to Tropicana Field, yet the hotel was also right by the water. Wish I'd brought my running shoes to go for a run by the marina!
Gives 'clip joint' a new meaning. Filthy room, surly staff, all of which I can endure, but heavens above .. the NOISE. everything from LOUD 'music' at the downstairs bar, the place is under construction..!! 18 hours a day.
Genuine travelers, AVOID.
Our stay at the Ponce de Leon Hotel was very nice. Cute boutique hotel. The rooms are adorable. Nice staff. GREAT LOCATION. One street over from the water, walking distance to a lot of shops, restraurants/bars. There was a craft show/festival right next to the hotel held on Saturdays. We went to see the Red Sox play. We were able to walk to and from the stadium to avoid TRYING to get a cab afterwards. Not a hop, skip and jump distance wise but manageable, and we also were able to see what else was around the area blocks over. Will definitely stay there again!
This hotel is very old, but very quaint. With a super delicious Tapas Bar/Restaurant on the first floor and a newly remodeled lobby - this hotel is great for a weekend trip. The rooms are small and furnished with old style furnishings - the bed was small, but clean! Super small bathrooms but also very clean. Small Staff was great and they took care of all our problems. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay downtown for a few nights and not wanting to spend a fortune. You get what you pay for!! If you are looking for large, newly furnished rooms and tons of staff, room service or newer accomdations the Ponce is not for you. But small and sweet it is for sure.
Only complaints: Small beds and the parking - there is no on site parking, you have to park across the street and it's 5 dollars per visit (must have exact change). But the hotel is located close to BayWalk and other dining and covenience stores, so you can walk with no problems.
