We came to Tampa to see a concert by the Pet Shop Boys last September. The theatre is very nice. Lobby is large with several concessions selling beverages (both non- and alcoholic). Theatre is a good size, approximately 2,000 seats, and it seems there really isn't a bad seat in the house. Make sure to get there early, as parking seemed to get a little out of hand as showtime got closer.

Periodically we catch a performance of the Florida Orchestra at the Mahaffey. The setting is marvelous as the theater is located with a view of the bay complete with boats big and small and a delightful fountain. Adore the box seats and slightly elevated lodge. Acoustics are wonderful. Lobby is spacious and once in a while one can catch a visual arts exhibit to enhance your performing arts experience.

They announced Morrissey Concert as " sold out " but I was able to buy a ticket at the box office just before the show . I contacted them twice to see any tickets available.First I was told that it is a sold out event. Then I asked them whether any tickets would be available right before the show (refunded or not picked up tickets). They rudely replied as " NO. As we said it is a sold out event".
I went there to get a ticket on the street but I wanted to check box office before I pay for an overpriced ticket. Surprisingly they were selling tickets, and they had 30+ tickets more!

Do not listen them! Just go there and get tickets for a show you die to see!

Hi Muhammed- I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience trying to buy tickets for Morrissey. For most shows, the artist's label and management company will place tickets on a hold for their exclusive use. Once they do that, the venue is no longer able to sell those tickets. Typically those seats are used by the band's family or friends. From time to time, not all of those seats are needed and they are given back to the venue to sell. That is what occurred for the Morrissey concert. It had been sold out for weeks, but on the day of the show, a small number of seats were opened back up for sale.

I am glad you were able to purchase a ticket and I hope you enjoyed the performance.

One of the best theaters I've ever been in. There are no bad seats. The acoustics are spectacular! The shows start with free coffee and donuts, then an hour of lecture about one of the featured instruments in the performance.t

The Florida Orchestra rotates among 3 locations and, in my opinion, this is the best. Not a bad seat in the house, and the location, overlooking the bay and next to the Dali Museum, is spectacular.
