“A Must-DO!”
Reviewed September 29, 2011

If you're traveling in this area, this is a must do! Makes the experience of Florida that much better. Hans and Bob are just amazing. We had a great and very rewarding trip, best day of our vacation! They are very knowledgeable and shared much of their expertise with us. My husband and I brought along a waterproof flip, which did an amazing job when snorkeling! We got to see the dolphins close to the boat, that was pretty amazing. After talking to some Florida natives, we found that they've become desensitized the dolphins but it was majestic! My husband even helped Bob rescue a pelican that was tangled up in a fishing line. Very rewarding! So check them out! Highly recommended- Find them on Facebook to see the fun!

Odieoh, Thank your husband for the help with the Brown Pelican! I was not on the trip, but I heard all about it from Capt. Hans and Bob. They were both super excited about the rescue. The pictures were linked onto our Facebook page by another guest that day and they are Awesome!! We NEVER get tired of seeing the dolphins play and enjoy life! Everyday is a new fabulous experience. Thanks again for the great review and thanks for sharing part of your vacation with us!

“Highlight of our trip to Florida”
Reviewed August 23, 2011

My husband, 5 year old daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this island adventure. The captain and crew were enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable and they always had our safety in mind. The tour was interesting and relaxing. We saw quite a few dolphins and we even saw a baby dolphin jumping out of the water. The island was beautiful with an abundance of wildlife to watch and shells. The boat was clean, roomy and it had a washroom on it. We had a great time and we would do it again. Thanks Captain Betty, Captain Mike, Bob and John.

“Excellent trip overall”
Reviewed August 22, 2011

Our family had a very nice time on the Calyspo Cat. The boat is very clean and the crew was all around a pleasure to be with. Definitely the coolest cat! The captain took very good care of us and was always watching out for our safety. A very nice family run operation. I felt we were cruising with family. The marina is easy to locate, a couple of quick turns after exiting I-275.

“The Calypso Cat: Much, Much More Than Just a Boat Ride!”
Reviewed August 17, 2011

My husband and I had a great time exploring Egmont Key with Island Boat Adventures. Making reservations over the phone was a breeze. Betty answered all our questions and gave excellent directions on where to meet the Calypso Cat. The boat was new and sparkling clean. The captain and mate were friendly and knowledgeable. Even though our tour was full, the boat didn't seem crowded. After the required safety lecture, we were off.

As we were backing out, the captain explained that the trip to Egmont Key took about 45 minutes each way, but we would probably take a hour to get there because he liked to slow down and turn aside if we saw any dolphins or other marine life. Sure enough, we were barely out of the marina before we saw the first of many dolphins. The captain idled the boat while we all enjoyed watching the dolphin swim around and around. It was to be the first of many, many dolphins we saw that day. We also saw quite a variety of other wildlife - sea birds, turtles, and even a manatee!

Once we arrived at Egmont Key, we had plenty of time to explore the island. We snorkeled, walked on the beach, and followed the trail into the interior where we saw the ruins. We had brought a small cooler with lunch and drinks and it was nice to sit in the shade on the boat and enjoy our lunch. Water and sodas were provided free of charge.

On the way back to the marina, we again turned aside for more dolphins. There was quite a large pod and we enjoyed seeing several leap out of the water. It was also nice to see several dolphin mothers with their babies. Disembarkation went very smoothly; we paid Betty, tipped the crew, and even bought one of the very colorful shirts as a momento of the day.
