This restaurant has an excellent location with a nice outdoor seating area. We came just at 5 and the place was close to empty. By 7 it was completely full.

The food is good, not great. We had seasoned olives to start. Our salads were very good- the tomato mozzerella arugala was excellent and so was the caesar. The bistro steak was unremarkable. The French onion soup had too much cheese, not much soup.

This would have earned a better review, but we saw a number of tables around us with poor service or unappetizing food. We had a good experience, but overall this seemed hit or miss.

The outside menu descriptions were better than the food served however this is not uncommon for a beach area. For example, the advertised center cut rib eye was quite fatty. However do not let this deter you from dining at Cassis. The desserts were an unexpected great surprise. Some times a dining experience is made better though the efforts of knowledgeable attentive servers. The servers ( Tiffany and John ) made the evening .They were among the best we experienced over the last several day.

Loved the service, Nick was great. Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's. The omelettes are to die for. %The eggs benedict with crab meat awesome. The coffee was great. Each facet of our experiance was worth a five star rating..

Wow. Where do I start with this place. Great location just off the water in downtown St. Petersburg. Indoor and outdoor seating. Busy Sunday noonish pushing one. John, our waiter, was professional and perfect. Once our order was placed the wait was very long only to be rewarded with very, very ordinary food. I suppose the wait was about 35 minutes or more. My French onion soup arrived tepid and was re-fired to very warm. It was at this point that I discovered that the soup verged on insipid with nuances of vinegar. Not good! My friend had to send his fries back to be re-heated and when returned they were still limp and soggy. His hamburger had a lump of meat where a patty should have been. Ordered medium and it was well done. Truly a disappointment all around. Oh, except for the bread. It was what kept me going with dreams of steaming hot onion soup. When John returned at the end of the "meal" he said that he didn't know what happened with the soup but it wasn't good.

I had a work-related function that involved wrapping up the day's events with a group dinner. This required room for 20, along with space and set up for AV equipment. Cassis' came through for us big time! We had a private room off the bar, which had a large screen TV mounted on the wall - all we had to do was plug in our pc equipment. Logistics aside (they are so easy to work with!), the service and food was really very good. We had a set menu of just a few choices (appetizer, meal, dessert), but what we had was delicious. We were also able to make the decision on what choices we would be offering to our group and the selection was great.
Service was top notch - attentive and pleasant. I am looking forward to a return trip with just a few friends and family and I expect the service and food will not disappoint.
