This museum holds many good pieces. It is a collection, not a curation...it seemed a bit like an all-you-can-eat buffet. I found it exhausting to try to make sense of such a diverse collection - many interesting pieces and talented artists get lost in the noise. It's worth a visit - but it's not a great learning experience because it's just too wide-ranging.

A real smorgasbord of art, this place would be great for kids and
novices, as well as the connoisseur.
Photography is allowed [no flash] in all of the permanent collection.

Many rooms with great prizes - Ancient Greek, Roman,
Pre- Colombian, Asian and Indian along with European and American.
Glass arts including a black room with spotlights on
spectacular crystal creations.
Many oils, from 14th century to modern.

Most of it can be seen in a couple of hours or less.
Pricey during regular business hours,10-5 everyday, $17,
but Thursday 5 - 8, is only $10.

My family enjoyed our visit to the MoFA and would go back again for sure. We like going at off-peak hours and taking time to take it all in.

The building is very impressive, but there wasn't much to see. I may be spoiled coming from NY and having just went to the Guggenheim last August. But if you're visiting St. Pete and are not from a major city, this may be an exciting museum for you.

Had a nice afternoon at the MFA in downtown St. Pete. Entry wasn't bad ($17 on march 2013) and there is a good variety of art. We spent about 2.5 hrs. Great Temp exhibit of Pearlstein. Definitely worth the time.
