I wonder if Tampa Bay is second only to Northern New England for bad Italian food. This is why it is refreshing to find places like La Casa del Pane. I put them at the same level as Mario's in Madeira Beach and the famous Mazzaro's. One little known secret is that the owners are from Altamura in Apulia. The Altamura bread is one of the best you can have. I like the dark bread, but have nothing against the white one. Their coffee and cappuccino are the best I have had in a long time. Once I was waiting for them to open the door in the morning and there was a delightful smell of fresh roasted coffee in the air. They have sandwiches at lunch. By mid-May they will move less than two miles north on Gulf Blvd in order to have more space for tables both inside and outside. They will offer pizza and other cooked food. All the best to them.
