“Great hotel”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

We just arrived home from a week at this hotel. Fabulous weather contributed to a wonderful relaxing week. Debbie and Patrice welcomed us and were very accommodating when we needed to use the front desk phone. Our room was very clean, but there was a strange odour each time we opened the door. The air conditioning unit helped to clear the air( or perhaps we just got used to it!)
We enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens and fountain. The birds singing in the trees were a lovely way to wake up each morning.
We especially enjoyed the nearby beach...what a treat in winter, to go swimming in the Gulf of Mexico!
We had an efficiency unit so bought groceries at. The Publix down the road about 1 mile.
Everything about this hotel was enjoyable (except that weird odour)
We would definitely recommend this hotel...great value for a great price.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the jimmy b's bar as it could be very loud.

Stayed at Beachcomber in early February. Well maintained room and grounds made for a great escape. Nice staff to. Right on the beach and walking distance to lots of activities. Plan to stay again next year!

We just spent a wonderful weekend at this hotel with our children and small grandchildren. From the time I first called to make the reservation, I was impressed with the friendliness, warmth and efficiency of the staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the efficiency with a kitchen was perfect for my son's family. The promised crib was in the room when we got there with sheets and a baby blanket. The grounds are nicely landscaped, the pools are nice and the beach access is close and easy. The beach itself is clean and beautiful. The other guests were also very friendly and we met many guests there who have been coming for years. We can see why.

The only negatives were the parking, which is very narrow and the air conditioner which was very noisy.

I am sure we will be back.

Made reservations late for our trip and ended up here. If this is the only place to stay when you plan to go...cancel your trip rather than stay here.
1. Rooms.....tried to remodel to up date them but they did not do the soundproofing. If you are on the first floor be prepared for the bowling alley above you. This is a "redneck" crowd so know that those that party all night most likely will be above your room. Liner drapes had holes in them. Maid service just passable. No queen or king size beds on the property...only double beds....smail rooms with too much in them. But hey, the closet was big.....
2. Bathrooms...tried to update but in doing so used faucets that should come with instructions. No fan in the bathroom, towels that are sub standard, and a toilet so low you will be doing "deep knee bends' to get up and down. Oh, by the way...when you flush it you will hear noise louder than most airplane engines.
3. Parking....You are warned.....this lot must have been layed out by a dylexsic......pulling up to the main entrance is a game of chance...no one knows which way to enter which can cause some tense moments. The front lot is fair and the side lots are one way in and the same way out. Plan your parking with some thought as to how you will get out one piece.
4. Bars...the focus on this property is the bars...two of them and the one at the beach is the nicest thing about the property. They have heaters when the weather does not cooperate which is nice and continuous entertainment. Do not get a room close to this beach bar as you will certainly not get any rest or peace and quiet.
5. Pools....two nice pools but never saw any towels for use at the pool.
6. The lobby and the grounds are nice but that does not make up for the rest of the place.
They give you coffee in the morning but a guest that was there at the same time i was thought twice about the coffee and walked across the street to the 7-11. We should have done the same thing and gone to another property.

Room Tip: Choose another property for your room.

I've stayed in many different areas of Florida over the years and I have to say The Beachcomber is by far my favorite place to stay. You get the best of both worlds, a comfortable clean room and access to the most beautiful beach or pool. All which includes the most friendly and professional staff in every department. I highly recommend this hotel.

I've been to the Beachcomber, Jimmy B's and Players many times and have had a great time. This last time was a horror show. They really upgraded the Beach Bar but went back in time with the elevator music that used to only play in Players bar. Now "The Blend" plays everywhere in the resort, even in the men's room. Hospitality rule #1. If the guests don't like the music they don't stay as long. Don't stay as long and the house loses money. Instead of spending most of my time at the resort I found myself escaping the music. Every other bar on the beach has a Touchtunes jukebox, including the American Legion. Hopefully the staff will have more latitude to change channels in the future.

Just returned from a 5 night stay. Did not want to leave! Checked in after midnight and was greeted with a smile from a gentleman who is from my home state of Michigan. After a long day of travel when everything seemed to go wrong, it was really nice to see a friendly face and easy check in. Got a room right next to the bar and overlooking the pool with great views of the beach. The front desk told me I could change rooms if music bothered me I love music, so it never bothers me. They have 2 bands that play daily until around 11pm. So much fun here. The beach is right there, so morning walks on the beach were wonderful. Went during the week in February, so it wasn't crowded... had above avg weather 80 to 85. Beautiful sunsets as well.
After reading some reviews, I was expecting much worse. I figured the beds would be horrible, since I was paying more for the location. But the beds were very comfortable, and the kitchenette really saved me some $. Stopped at the grocery store down the road, and got yogurt, water, soda and beer. The room was very clean, the maid was so nice...everyone here was! I did spot a small roach in the kitchen, but I figure you can expect that in a tropical setting.
For the price, you can't beat this. I'm coming back next year, but will definitely stay longer.
I'm glad I chose this area instead of Treasure Island. The only thing this place needs is a hot tub. None many of the hotels in the area have them, wonder why?

Room Tip: If you need peace and quiet, request a room away from the bar
