We've been going for years and the quality never changes. The locals know this as an authentic Florida restaurant. Their breakfasts and lunches (we recently enjoyed both) are great. Eat inside, or in an outside courtyard, some of which is shaded. Going early is a good idea. Breakfasts are excellent (eggs, hot cakes, potatoes--all good), but the grilled fish sandwich for lunch shouldn't be missed, either. Go as you are--no need to dress up. The food comes pretty quickly, too. Parking is available, but limited. There is some free street parking, but bring a few quarters in case you have to feed the meter. The restaurant is on the right on the corner of Pass A Grille Way and 8th Avenue if you're coming from the Don Cesar Hotel almost to the end and across from a small pier for the Shell Key shuttle. Technically, the Sea Horse does breakfast and lunch, the Side Door at the Seahorse (next door) does dinner.

I travel for a living and find myself at this little joint again and again for over 20 years. You are on the non-beach side of the spit and can watch the fisherman come in and the sunlight on the water. They've added a Cuban sandwich to their menu and it's delicious. Can't go wrong with good ol' fried baskets of seafood and fries. Affordable bordering on dirt cheap for all you get: water view, gulf breezes, good service and great food.

They offer an excellent breakfast. This is evident by the line at the front door every day when it opened at 8 AM sharp. Service is friendly and fast. Food is hot off the grill. My biggest complaint is they offer absolutely no raw fruit on their menu, and along with fruit I wish they would offer other healthy options.

Visited on a Saturday around 11 am... they were only serving breakfast at that hour and we were already looking for lunch, so we waited till 11:30 to order. I ended up having the cheese grits and cajun shrimp (available for breakfast AND lunch) and my friend had a burger. The grits were excellent, and the shrimp were well-seasoned and plentiful. My friend enjoyed her burger. The only drawback was the frozen crinkle-cut fries that accompanied it. Really? We sat outside on their sheltered patio... very rustic and nice. Inside was crowded and warm - but it had a real olde-timey diner feel inside.
