We had a nice time at the Keystone. It was older but cleaner. It was well maintained. It has a very nice pool and is across the street from a great beach...It is right next door to a some good restaurants. The manager was very helpful and friendly. They were is the process of doing some room remodeling so there was some noise. I would recommend some more comfortable chairs for sitting in the rooms at night. I would return here for a future stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the gulf side...The kitchenettes are nice to have.

My wife and I decided to do a road trip, from chicago area. WE stopped at many places along the way. The last couple of days we where dodging the weather. Had a bad stops along the way. I booked a place,on the computer, just to have a place to stay, when we got in the area. Bad choice. But they gave me 2hrs. to find, someplace else and would not charge us for the nite. Then we came across the keystone. When I came into the office, I met The daughter of the mane who built the hotel in 1945. I told her, my story, she told me hers. After some fun watching, her with her bookings, we had a new place to stay. We had to change rooms, each day, but that was fine. The rooms where clean and comfortable. The location is great nice and quite, great food, near by. Three generations, of nice family, taking care of you. Thank you very much!!!!!!!!!!!!! would stay again

My wife and I recently spent 8 days/7 nights in Pass-A-Grille a the Keystone Motel, and I would not hesitate to return any time. The room was clean and the bed was comfy. Our first couple of days there we lazed in the pool and watched the paint crew finish up a brand new exterior paint job. The room we were in had been freshly painted, had a good tile floor and best of all, a brand new bathroom with glass walk in shower, new tiles, and new toilet/vanity. It was a kitchenette unit, and while the kitchen area was tiny, it had everything we needed including a full size fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and electric cook top, but no oven. We didn't miss it, we mostly used the kitchenette for a toasted sandwich in the morning or a late night snack. There are several excellent restaurants in the area including the Hurricane right next door, owned by the same family. If you show them your room key you receive 10% off your lunch or dinner food bill, not including alcohol. Hey, better than nothing. This hotel has been in the same family since it was built in 1945 and they take great pride in it, as they should. If you read some posts about the older lady on the property, please keep in mind that Grandma is 92 years old, still works a 16 hour day and could be found checking on things all over the hotel property and the restaurant next door. Her hearing is not good, and a little absent minded perhaps, but a really sweet host as are her daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter. The pool area was clean and the pool kept well heated so that we could enjoy it even on cooler days. You can't beat the location right across the street from the beach, and PAG is a beautiful little area with some neat little shops, bars, restaurants and best of all, not a single building over three stories tall. No ugly condos or impersonal chain hotels. Reminded me a lot of Key West, but smaller. If you are younger perhaps and looking for a big party and night life, it will not be for you, but for us as a middle aged couple that appreciates a cold beer in the afternoon, a nice supper and a walk on the beach at sunrise, it was perfect.

Room Tip: Upper rooms in front have the best view, but there is no elevator, so if stairs are a problem, get s...

Stayed here July 2011. My fiancee (now wife) and I had been holidaying in Orlando, and decided a night away somewhere else to experience the ''old'' Florida would be in order.

No complaints, the family who run the hotel are so friendly, nothing is too much trouble.

Room was old, but spotless and had everything we needed.

Only one small complaint, when we ran the shower, there was no hot water. Not a major problem really, considered it was July and really really hot down there. Cool shower was refreshing.

Would I return? Yes - no problem.

Room Tip: Ground floor by the pool.

The place was great It's like going back in time with everything you need just steps away. We enjoyed all that it offers. Once you stay here you won't go anywhere else. Blacky really knows how to run the place. The owners were great and so friendly I felt at home. We will be back and look toward to seeing our new friends. P.S. don't tell everyone lol oh yes make sure and meet grandma she is 92 and is a great lady.

While living in Tampa we escaped to the Keystone for a romantic night. Our budget was tight and this was at the top.. We knew it was old style but were willing to deal with the age and accomodations. What we didn't realize until staying there was that it is by far the best place to unwind and relax. We returned many times, even got the same room repeatedly, which we now refer to as "Our Room".
Fast forward 5 years to January 2013. Most of the hotel has been updated. New beds, flat screen TV's, some of the baths redone, they were even painting the exterior while we were there. We booked 8 rooms for 4 days, some for just 2 people, and 2 others with kitchens and living spaces, to host our wedding. It was absolute perfection. I know our families were initially hesitant to stay in an older hotel but all were delighted and told us they now understood why we had said the Keystone was such a special place.
Mary aked me several times during our stay if everything was alright and seemed geniunely concerned that we were as comfortable as possible. We even presented them with the ultimate bad guest challenge when we discovered we had locked both of our keys in our room after the reception. It was late, we called, and within minutes someone arrived with a key, AND she was very pleasant about the inconvenience.
Are they old style? Let's say it is a throw back to a gentler time. It's easy. Leave your worries at home, take a deep breath, and prepare yourself to be treated like a valued guest as you enjoy the most relaxed visit you could ever experience.
Thank you Mary, we will come back again.

Stayed for a week with my girlfriend. We shared a motel style room with two beds and a bathroom.

Overall we had a nice experience and would recommend this place to our friends, especially considering the price - you get what you pay for.

Positive

+ Great people in reception
+ Great beach-front location
+ Renovated bath-rooms
+ Nice pool

Negative

- Really nasty carpet in room, rip it out and put in tiles or wooden floors
- Room would need a refrigerator and some kind of wardrobe
- Insufficiently soundproof, you could hear clearly what was going on in other rooms
- Room service only made the beds two out of six nights

Room Tip: We had room 209 - pool and beach view, so I can recommend that
