Even when walked in it felt Werid! The staff stared at us because we had kids and they were scared our kids wouldn't like anything! They seemed nervous and tired. It was just strange we got wine and then we started talking and the waitress stared at us and we ordered because she didnt leave. The food took forever and it was 2 hours I will never get back! The food was ok with an exception of the crab cakes which were amazing but on the other hand I felt like I was in The Twilight Zone! We are never going there again! It was not a pleasant evening.

This is a very good restaurant, probably the only one at St. Pete's beach worthy of the phrase "fine dining." The owner Bruce and his hostess are friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The small room has a quiet and romantic ambience, with subdued lighting that is not so dim as to make it hard to read the menu. Tables are placed reasonably well apart.

The menu is a well-balanced choice of seafood, fish, poultry and red meats, together with a nice choice of appetizers. The wine list is extensive with some high priced items (e.g. a Chateau Margaux at $1500), but there is a more than adequate selection of wines in the $25 to $40 range (perhaps somewhat biased toward domestics). There were a couple of bottles being offered at a special price, and there is a small selection of wines by the glass. For aperitifs, I had a Suze, while my wife had a Lillet, both French aperitifs not easily found in American restaurants.

Following an amuse-bouche, I had a mini beef Wellington to start, which was excellent -- the beef was tender and the pastry flakey but not dry. My wife had Coquilles St-Jacques, plump, succulent scallops in a garlic-white wine sauce with mushrooms and tomatoes.

The entrees come with a tasty salad (or you can order a Caesar salad for two for only $9 extra) and a sorbet is offered prior to the main course. My main course was Steak Diane, flambeed tableside using premium ingredients. The steak and its sauce were both delicious, served with potatoes and green vegetables, accompanied by an excellent Bordeaux by the glass. My wife enjoyed char-grilled Coho salmon in a Bechamel sauce, the fish being tender and tasty. Interestingly, she was asked how she would like the fish cooked, unusual in that most restaurants serve their fish cooked according to the chef's inclination.

Neither of us had dessert; although the list looked interesting, we usually forego dessert. Bruce offered me a cheese plate to finish -- a non-menu item, which I thought was a nice touch. The regular coffee was excellent.

The service is leisurely, which is how we like it, allowing a few minutes between courses. My only quibble is the 17% service charge; quite a high figure, 12-1/2% would be reasonable for an automatically-added gratuity.

While this was not an inexpensive dinner, the combination of pleasant surroundings, good service and excellent food nevertheless makes for good value in this kind of dining category. If we go back to St. Petersburg, this restaurant will be at the top of our list for a return visit.

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Fetishes. We've heard excellent comments about the cuisine for years. The food was indeed excellent – Caesar salad, steak Diane and bananas foster … all cooked tableside. We were, however, extremely disappointed with the service. It was very slow, even for an upscale restaurant: we were there for 3 hours! It was the timing between courses that was so inconsistent. We think we easily waited 40 minutes between our salads and entrées. When the owner (who is the only one who cooks tableside) rolled the cart over to our table to cook dinner, he asked us if we had been served our sorbet. We said “no.” Oddly, we never did get the sorbet. We thought that the owner was very distracted while making our dishes tableside; constantly leaving to do something else and then returning. At one point, even the hostess acknowledged that we were waiting a long time for our food (she called us "the patient people"). At the end of the evening, we thought it would have been a nice gesture for the restaurant to comp our dessert (just one even; not both), since they knew it was our anniversary and we had waited so patiently all evening and had not been served our sorbet. That was not the case. We understand that there was a large private party (10 people) at the restaurant that evening, but that is no excuse for compromising the service you give to other paying guests. For the prices charged at Fetishes (including an automatic 17% gratuity), we expected perfection in food and service. You have to deliver on both if you want customers to leave happy and return again.

My wife's family got together in St. Pete Beach over the past weekend and we had the opportunity to eat at several restaurants during our stay. Fetishes was right across the street from the hotel we were staying in (the Beachcomber), and the rating on Yelp looked good, so we thought we'd give it a try.

We were lucky to get in, as there are very few tables available. They were kind enough to seat us in a private room in the back, which suited us perfectly.

Everyone liked their meals, whether it was seafood or beef. I had the crabcakes for an appetizer (excellent) and a Caesar salad (excellent), with New Orleans shrimp for the entree (very good). The pace of the meal was very slow, which worked out fine for us, given it was a family function. Service was very good, and friendly.

Not an inexpensive meal, but reasonable in value and of excellent quality. I would recommend you give Fetishes a try if you're in the area.

Went to St. Pete Beach for dinner Saturday night at Fetishes. Our first time in the new
building. We were very happy with it. Lots of room, and almost double the number of tables
from the old place. The lighting was perfect...not too bright, and not too dim. The escargot first
was perfect, which Barry had for the first time! I had coquille st jacques, which was great as well.
We both had the surf and turf...a crab cake and filet, prepared perfectly. And they now have
a number of wines by the glass, if that's what you like. We both had half bottles...a red bordeaux for me, and a chardonney for Barry. Both delish and not too pricey.
All in all, so happy Fetishes is back in business. We'll be going often!
