We thought we'd try The Hurricane as it looked great from the outside and was in a great location. The building was really run down with old bathrooms (not much better than the beach), the restaurant had holes and peeling paint on the walls and a funky, musty smell. Waiter was attentive but phony. We all had the grouper which was excellent, fresh and perfectly cooked. But when you are paying $30 for a meal, I'd expect to get fresh, local vegetables...not horrible frozen mixed vegetables that were soggy, overcooked and flavourless!! Only 1 side was included too. You'd think they'd have Heinz ketchup for the fries instead of some crappy generic stuff...even Disney has Heinz! I also had the clam chowder...there were wonderful clams in it but the soup itself was not good...tasted like a bowl full of flour....such a waste with wonderful clams. We were disappointed.

My boyfriend and I went in to eat lunch today and they gave us menus and got us drinks and then never came back. We waited for about 20 minutes and then got up and walked out. They even watched us walk out and never said anything. We might have ubderstood if they were busy but they had 2 tables of people and 2 tables that nobody was sitting at but they never cleaned the tables and yet there were 3 of them working.

Having been to this restaurant many times in the past we thought we would go to the open air bar on the roof for a drink to watch the sunset. As I remembered from the past it's just the best place to be to watch the sunset at the end of a perfect day down at the beach!
Although it's a very romantic thought, sunset at the beach! Lets get real! The drinks can be a bit pricey with the bar tenders expecting a generous tip for serving a few beers. The young woman who served me I don't think liked her job that much as the way she looked at the drinks you'd have though she was washing a tramps dick! But don't let that put you off the experience of the view it's worth it!

We went for drinks at the rooftop bar. The view is stunning and well worth a visit, but don't expect anything else. I can't imagine how the single bartender attending to the whole bar could be nice and efficient (he was neither). The beer taps don't work correctly (but, don't worry, they will sell you tap beer anyway). This appears to be a place that is going down hill because the owners don't want to spend any money to fix anything, train or monitor employees, or try at all to make patrons or employees happy to be there. It won't last. But the bright side is that the building and location are excellent and this would quickly become a great place if some owners come in who actually care.

The Hurricane is located in Historic Pass-a-Grille which is a section of St. Pete Beach. They have a rooftop deck/bar where you can get one of the best views in all of the Gulf. The drinks are great and reasonably priced. The waiter was the most honest I've ever had in that he told us which fish came in frozen and what was totally fresh. I opted for the grouper tacos which were amazing and again, reasonably priced. If you're looking for a great spot with great views and easy parking, all in an amazing area, this is the place.
