We recently arrived at the Hurricane on a Sunday morning at 10:35 and we were glad to see that breakfast was served till 11. There was a wait - the hostess took our names, and we stood with others. Nothing unusual, yet. Some more customers arrived at 10:45, also hoping to have breakfast. Unfortunately, they were turned away, and were told that because there was a line ahead of them and they would not be seated before 11, they were too late. The customers got angry, and told the hostess that because they had arrived before 11, they should be served breakfast! The hostess also got angry and told them that the Hurricane was primarily a lunch and dinner place, and breakfast was not a priority. This lame explanation for such rudeness only escalated the situation. The customer stormed out, vowing never to return, and the hostess shouted after her that the Hurricane did not want her anyway! Whew! Then we were seated. Our server told us that breakfast had ended 10 minutes before, but she grudgingly agreed to serve us coffee and ALLOW us to order from the breakfast menu. Wow, not the service with a smile that we had hoped for after waiting 25 minutes. The food was actually quite good, but the service and staff attitude were memorably bad! Note to Hurricane: A simple fix would be to change your sign to reflect that breakfast is to be served until 10:30. That way, people would not be expecting breakfast if they walked in after 10:30. And tourists who only want a relaxing breakfast on a Sunday morning won't have such an unpleasant start to their day and such a bad experience at an otherwise pretty decent restaurant. 3 Starts reflect an average of good food and poor service and staff attitude.
