My family and I, came to Tampa and stayed at the TRADEWINDS for a 10 day stay which we had never visited or done before. Our our suite on the north wing had two rooms which was just great for my two children ages 28 and 20 for their own privatesey which very beautiful and very homely, making us all feel very welcome.Your room staff was second to none, always very helpful and willing to offer advice and tips as where to go for dining, sight seeing and shopping within your Tampa bay area.
As we say in Trinidad where we reside, The people, all staff from the front desk to room cleaners, are nice people just great people. Their advice and help was the Icing on the Cake. Thanks for a wonderful stay and I will certainly come back to Tradewinds.

A very relaxing quiet weekend. We are local residents but never get to the beach for pure pleasure. It was a beautiful weekend, all things considered!

booked on Priceline as 3 star for $41. Got screwed $28 fee extra when I arrived. The sister hotel down the road Grand 4 star for $55 did the same. Rooms small. Place was empty and still gave out the crapiest rooms. If you want to donate $, pick a charity of your choice, not forced!

We have just returned from 10 days at the Sandpiper. We stayed in a Gulffront suite and the views were superb, although as previous reviewers have noted, might have been partially blocked by palm trees on floors lower than ours (floor 5).
This is quite a nice resort, but probably not a four-star place. Good points - very clean, rooms were spotless; grounds and pools were immaculate, and it's right on an excellent beach. There are at least half a dozen restaurants within 10 minutes' walk, so it's nice to be able to go out at night and know you can have a drink with your meal. Area around hotel is very safe.
There were three computers with free internet access in the lobby, which was a bonus. A bus and trolley service to Clearwater and St Petersburg run past the door, so you don't have to take the car out if you don't want to. Four dollars for an all-day ticket.
Drawbacks - chambermaid service is hit-and-miss. We stayed 10 nights, and had our toiletries replaced about three times - for instance we were left one sachet of shampoo for two of us , and it was not replaced for two days. One day the chambermaid knocked at our door at 9.30am to do the room, despite us having left a Do Not Disturb sign on the door; another day our room was not done until 4.30pm, so we returned from a day on the beach wanting a shower, to find we had no clean towels, and had to wait around for 45 minutes.
We had a kitchenette, but it was not well equipped. One sharp knite, whose blade was broken, four of everything else,(cutlery, plates, cups, glasses) plus a tin opener, is about it.
Walls are quite thin - we could hear people talking in the room next door, and they weren't being noisy. Not a huge problem, but something to be aware of.
Some of the staff were helpful, others noticeably less so.
Restaurant was closed one night when it was due to be open (this wouldn't have mattered except it was the one day we had a tropical storm, and so didn't really want to leave the hotel to eat...)
The hotel was only about half full when we were there, so there was no problem getting a lounger, cabana etc, but I could imagine there might easily be difficulty if the hotel was full. The pools were fine, but not big, so again, there could be problems in high season.
The jacuzzi was excellent.
It's not overly expensive compared to other places in a similar location, and I would probably go back if I returned to St Pete Beach. We booked through Expedia, and this included the 25 dollar a day resort fee.
