Have just got back from St Petes (22.09.12 - 29.09.12), what a fabulous place. The hotel was right on the beach where we could watch the dolphins swimming in the sea. Unfortuantely the hotel was going through refurbishment at the time we were there which, although it didn't mar our enjoyment, did add some noise and disruption. We booked mailnly because of it being the quieter of the Tradewinds hotels and it had an adult only pool, but unfortunately the adult pool was closed for the week we were there. Virgin Holidays did not inform us of any refurbishment taking place. We paid an extra £400 for a front facing room (no balcony just patio doors) and these were the rooms being reburbished at the time we were there. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, just as well as there was no representation from any Virgin Reps in the resort. If anyone is going there quite soon, I would check with your tour company before hand.

Room Tip: Upgrade to sea view rooms but don't pay £400 and check to see if it has a balcony

With a name like Guy Harvey Outpost, we weren't sure what to expect from our stay. Boy, were we blown away! Formerly the Sandpiper, the Guy Harvey took over just a few weeks before our stay. Tradewinds has done a wonderful job changing over the resort and despite some construction/rehabbing going on around the property, we absolutely loved it. The value was incredible - we spent a fraction of other hotels in the area, and the amenities were surprisingly top-notch. Yes, the rooms are still quite "vintage" - floral bed spread, box TV, wicker furniture - but the bathroom was updated, and we were grateful for the kitchenette in our room. It's a 10-minute walk to the Publix grocery store, so we took advantage of the refrigerator, sink and dishes to make a few meals rather than eating out. The cafe facing the pool has a fantastic view and although a bit overpriced, the food was delicious. The beach - WOW. Steps away from the main pool is a vast expanse of white sand with free cabanas and comfy beach chairs for guests. It was well-maintained and just gorgeous. The staff were so friendly and helpful; quick to help us figure out why our AC wasn't kicking on (the sliding patio door was sticking) and offer recommendations for the free local beach rides (Jimmie's was the best!). Our room was off the adults only pool, so it was quiet and although on the ground floor, relatively private. We would definitely stay here again - the value for the price can't be beat. I can't wait to visit again once the property is fully Guy Harvey!

Room Tip: All the king beds are on the ground floor, but request one near the Adults Only Oasis Pool - very qu...

The music at the competing beach bar goes on until the late hours of the morning! If its not the bars then its people partying in their rooms at all hours. Bring your eat plugs if you intend on any quality sleep. Noise easily comes in the glass and main door of your room- both exterior here.

We had the best time at Guy Harvey! We had reservations at another hotel, stayed one nite and checked out asap in the morning, worst hotel we stayed at. Had friends who found Outpost and were able to get a room there too! Was the best hotel experience we had in years!! Can't wait to go back! High Five to Brad/bartender and Victoria/Grille!! The staff was amazing, they remembered our names, were very attentive and made the stay so enjoyable! We really enjoyed the quiet beach time, drinks at the bar with the awesome wait staff and meeting such friendly people! We are looking forward to going back!

Room Tip: We had a room facing south, not the beach, but we were not in the room enough for it to be a problem...

The front desk lady already had called housekeeping and went back to the front desk, not having a floor wet sign or an employee stand there, with about 5 other people standing around doing nothing! When I spoke with the manager, Joanne, she said I'm sorry. Go to the doctor if you want... Absolutely the worst encounter with someone in management I have ever had! So disappointed..

Had reservations at a nearby hotel for 3 nights and after one night checked out because it was filthy! We had freinds that had done the same the night before so we went to the GH and loved it. The staff was top notch, rooms were clean and the overall experience was fantastic. The poolside bar was great, we met friendly people, played some games and had alot of fun. Breakfast was also very good. I really think what made the experience so enjoyable was the staff. The bartenders at the outside bar and the watresses at breakfast were great! Can't wait to go again!
