Guy Harvey Outpost, a TradeWinds Beach Resort
Ranked #9 of 32 Hotels in St. Pete Beach
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed October 7, 2012

This hotel has been reconstructed with Guy Harvey murals and painting which are fantastic. The hotel is basically the same as before, maybe there will be more updating on the way. Our stay was in a first floor suite three doors down from the hotel entrance. The room had a bad smell at times, like a wet diaper. Not sure if it's from the ac system or if flooding had previously occurred. They had sandbags in front of the sliding doors to the patio which made it difficult to open the doors. I don't recommend staying on first floor in the 1st wing by the adult pool. The staff is very customer oriented and had a great conversation with Tim at the Guy Harvey store about fishing. Next time I hope to do some fishing. Despite the smelly room I actually like this hotel better than Tradewinds, it's a little less crowded but with all the amenities. I hope to stay here again.

I am a mother, employee and a wife, the boys play football and with school activities it seems like we are alway running here and going there, plus the my husband I work 40 hrs a week.It was an amazing opportunity to be able to go on vacation.I really had no idea what to expect when booking this trip, but the minute we walked through the doors we knew we were taking in a slice of paradise, the staff was so friendly and egar to meet all the necessary needs to make your stay with them as stressless as possible,I really appreciated them all.The food was phenominal and the view when the sun set each evening breath taking. There was always something to do for all ages at the resort, fishing, collecting sea shells, making sharktooth necklaces with Captain Red Beard and in the evening just unwinding on the beach,I give 5 stars in how easy you can Just Let Go at the Guy Harvey Outpost,an amazing stay when you just need to get away!!!!!

Room Tip: The sixth floor, you can overlook the beach, and its a breathtaking site to see.

I have stayed here everytime I come to St Pete. The staff is excellent, very friendly and will help with whatever you may need. The rooms are very nice and I love that they have an adult pool seperate from the kids pool. They actually make sure that it stays an adult pool too! The food is great, drinks too. I would highly recommend the Hammocks on the beach to relax in the afternoon!

Room Tip: Gulf front rooms are the best!

They have transformed this hotel to a fisherman's dream
The colors in the rooms are beautiful. They have a brand new gift shop that is full of Guy Harvey gifts.
If anyone is into sport fishing this is definitely the place to come! !!

My family have enjoyed holidays at the Guy Harvey Outpost (formerly the Sandpiper) since 1991. The location right on the beautiful beach is idyllic and the two swimming pools (one solely for adults to chill out) is a welcome option. The hotel is undergoing a steady makeover to reflect the new Guy Harvey ownership - some cosmetic touches are already in place like pictures and logos - but more is apparently planned. My family had two Gulf front suites, which offer fantastic views of the Gulf and the varied wildlife including many Pelicans & Dolphins. A suite provides plenty of space to spread out, with 2 TVs, a good sized bathroom, 2 queen-sized beds, a reasonably well equipped kitchenette & good sized lounge/dining room. If there is a negative, I would vote for the air conditioning system. It's effective, but rather noisy particularly when it cuts in at night & you're trying too sleep. Turn it off & you'll probably wake up covered in persperation from the heat!

The hotel gets rather busy at weekends but during the week it calms down & the relaxing easy paced living returns. Shangri La!!

Room Tip: Gulf Front suites on the 6th floor offer great views & no disturbance from boisterous neighbours...

spent a long weekend there with my daughter, shopping for colleges. We had such a nice, relaxing stay, the staff was very courteous and welcoming. The poolside grill/restaurant was good with a friendly staff, beach staff were also very nice, getting us cushions and towels, etc. Our suite had a beautiful view and was cheerfully decorated. Thought the value, for what we paid, was very fair. We left some things in our safe when we left and the security staff was amazing when we called and over-night expressed it all to us. Very happy with our stay.

Room Tip: beach front rooms are well worth the price
