This was our second trip here, first was in '09, same time of the year - October. Met so many people that have been going back to the motel for up to 30 years! The motel is very well kept and the staff eager to please. We loved the first visit so much we brought our family along for the second vacation. They were equally impressed, and the kids and parents had an amazing time. The pool and grounds are immaculate, ditto for the beach. Early morning walks to watch the sunrise and the dolphins are just incredible. Sunsets are breathtaking. The suites are so handy when you don't feel like dining out. We barbequed 2X at the motel and enjoyed meals with new friends we made there. Great place to meet people from all over the world, and to keep in touch with long after the vacation is over. The motel is handy to a multitude of restaurants, sites and shopping. Trollies are easily accessible, to use at your convenience, if you don't want a car rental or just for a change. Perfect spot for a memorable vacation.

This was such a cute little hotel. A little outdated (colors on the outside reminded me as if we were transported back into the 80's), but the biggest complaint was that our A/C broke. Twice!
They replaced the entire unit the first time, then the second one broke overnight. We had ceiling fans, so it wasn't too bad, just a bit stuffy. Because it only had a unit A/C that left the bathrooms REALLY hot.

Otherwise, it was a great little hotel! Great walk to the beach, and it was neat being able to see the ocean from outside your hotel door!

Oh and the little hot-dog bar they advertised was off-season, so that was slightly disappointing.

Room Tip: There is no elevator, so if you have VERY heavy stuff, try to ask for a 1st floor room

We had a blast at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised that our room was very large and had a full-sized frig, stove, microwave and a "real" coffee-maker! We loved the fact that they had poolside barbeque grills. They also had the most adorable "hut-style" umbrellas and round, wooden tables so that if you chose to eat in, you could. It saved us a lot of money since we were able to make breakfasts and lunches at the hotel. That left more money for us to enjoy more upscale restaurants for dinner and more drinks! Yaaaay! The beach was literally steps away from the hotel, so we didn't feel like we had to walk a mile to get to the beach. The pool was clean, poolside chairs were comfy, and the staff was very helpful and pleasant. Oh, and we were provided tons of bath towels, which is important when vacationing. We will be back in May 2013, and this is most definitely where we will be staying!! Thanks, Plaza Beach!!!

Room Tip: Rooms 116 and 118 are very large. They actually look like a bachelor apartment!

We had the privilege to stay 3 nights in this traditional Florida hotel located in the heart of Paradise. Im not joking or exaggerating one bit when I say this. The service exceeded expectations. Bongos(the beach bar and restaurant) offered one of the best experiences of our lives. The servers and bartenders were extremely cordial and the food was amazing. I highly recommend the crab cakes and California burger. The tables on the beach offer the most gorgeous view of the Gulf of Mexico and the sunsets will bedazzle you and take your breath away. Walking along the Gulf coast is an equally amazing experience as we saw, stingrays, crabs, jellyfish and tons of other wildlife in their natural habitat. We will be making this our annual anniversary spot for years to come.

I'm in full agreement with most of the other reviews. From the outside, the Plaza has a pleasant anachronistic feel. It reminds me of my first trip to Florida as a child some forty years ago. The property is clean and well maintained inside and out. The room was tastefully decorated, and the kitchenette was well thought out. If you aren't averse to doing some of your own cooking on vacation, there's a supermarket just a short walk away, as well as a number of nice restaurants if that's not your thing.

My family takes two short vacations each year. The Plaza Beach Hotel is the first resort that we unanimously want to come back to.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms will likely be more quiet.

When we first pulled up to this hotel, we all looked at each other and laughed. It looked like a throw back from the 60s.,,but boy did we get a pleasant surprise, Once we registered and started walking around we loved this place. It looks like it was recently renovated and the rooms are extremely clean and have a kitchen if you are interested in cooking. Our room overlooked the pool and ocean so we could literally walk our coffee down to the beach and enjoy the start of our day. The pool was sparkling clean too. They had BBQ grills and tables and chairs on the side along with a little mini golf course for the children. They also had a little tiki stand that sold hotdogs, hamburgers, drinks, ice cream, etc. for a reasonable price and the food was good. The owner of the hotel, Robert, was so welcoming and offered a social hour each day with free wine and beer. It truly was a hidden gem and we will stay there again the next time we visit St. Pete's!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with king size beds with ocean view are literally within feet of the beautiful beach.

Stayed at this resort this weekend and had a wonderful time. The room was cleaner than just about any 5-star I've stayed in. Husband just said it was very conveniently placed and very easy to find. We went in the pool - which too was extremely clean. The small kitchen has everything you'd need to stop yourself from eating out - as a Brit I was very impressive to find a kettle to use (very important to have a cuppa in the morning, afternoon and evening).

Only one tiny complaint - the air conditioning unit in our room was extremely noisy and probably needs servicing, apart from that... Fabulous weekend.
