This was our third trip to St. Pete Beach, because the beach is fantastic. I was a little disappointed that the cabanas cost $20 per day. Bongos beach bar was nice. The food was
good--loved having my feet in the sand while I relaxed with a drink and a burger. We upgraded to an "ocean view" room, which was nice, but I wouldn't do it again. Too price invasive. I don't think there's a bad view in the hotel, due to water on both sides. We were in room 812-directly over the hotel AC units and the bar's live music. With the music outside and the room AC running, we could barely hear each other! I did call the front desk one night and ask if the performer could turn the amp down a notch and that seemed to help a bit. One set of elevators in the whole place was interesting as well. Our room was odd shaped-not much space at all. Bathroom was very small. Definately outdated, but overall, is was fine.

We chose this hotel for its location and after reading the reviews thought it was worth a try for our 5 night getaway. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. The lobby is very nice but small. The beach and pool area are lovely although the pool is very small. Bongos, the beach bar, is fun and has lots of tables and chairs. The food is the same food served in the Spinners Restaurant which was a nice surprise. We also went to Spinners Restaurant for Valentine's dinner. The atmosphere was great but the food was just okay---not terrible but just okay. The wait staff were very attentive.
Our gulf front room had a king-size bed and Murphy bed above the sofa. Let me just say that the mattress on the king-size bed gave me trouble after the second night. So we pulled down the Murphy bed and after sleeping on it my backache improved. We were on the 7th floor so each evening we sat on the balcony and enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets! The gulf front room was sooo worth it!
For sure the room needs to be updated. The furniture and mattress should be replaced and the bathroom needs a full renovation. The spigot in the tub/shower never fully switched from tub to shower so it was a little weird with water coming from both spigot and shower head. And the air conditioner was temperamental--took some getting used to.
All in all, the room wasn't that bad since we didn't spend much time in it. Plus we didn't have to pay for resort fees or parking. We might stay there again but we enjoy trying different beach areas on the gulf. By the way The Mad Fish restaurant right next door was a great little place to eat. It was delicious!

Room Tip: Choose a gulf front room on a high floor. You may escape some late night noise from the bar and the...

Decided to visit St. Pete Beach for a winter getaway from chicago. Read reviews here and on Expedia about this property.

We were looking to just have a lazy vacation to hang out on the beach all day. So the location was perfect since the beach is behind the property.

The place is dated for sure. Paint peeling off our door bathroom & patio door. The walls in room have older textured paint, same with the ceiling. The window shutters were the best feature in the room.

Bed was fine. Room was a bit small. We stayed in room 807. So views of the bay to our left and ocean to the right. Bathroom was tiny. Pieces of the va ity was chipping off, but the shower seemed clean enough.

I would imagine the oceanfront rooms are fantastic, but the music from bongos cafe is pretty loud. Even in our room & being on the 8th floor (there are only 9) and the patio door closed, we can hear a bit of the music in the evenings. It's probably louder on lower floors and ocean front rooms.

There's a breakfast buffet, but the food was bland and nothing exciting. Though that's probably typical of a hotel buffet. We ordered room service a couple of times. The catch of the day fish sandwich was so fresh & delicious.

Staff is definitely courteous and attentive.

Just returned from staying at this Hotel. I would highly recommend this place, if your looking for a bit of luxury, good food and a relaxing enviroment. The customer service was very good in all areas we experienced and found it difficult to find any negatives.
The seting on the beach is superb and if you can stretch to a sea view it is well worth it.
The beach bar Bongos, was great for lunch or afternoon drink. In the evening the music played on to about 11pm and varied in both musicians and quality, but still fun.
The price of the food in the hotel was a little more expensive than some of the local restaurants, but you do notice the difference...you get what you pay for.
The only downside from our perspective was the lounge bar is tied up with the Spinners retaurant at the top of the Hotel. Could have done with a more relaxing space within facility.

Room Tip: Sea view with balcony above second floor, would be recommended.

Hotel was extremely clean and staff was very friendly and accomodating. Nice location. Walking distance to restaurants and grocery store. Staying again for a week in April. Only drawback is you have to pay to rent cabana chairs on beach. $20. for a day.

My boyfriend and I stayed here the first week in February. Check in was easy and quick, however neither of the room keys worked when we got to our room. The issue was taken care of immediately. I was disappointed that my room faced Norman's liquor store and not the gulf, but we didn't spend much time in the room, so it wasn't that big of a deal. The hotel is dated, but clean. The location can't be beat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The best part about this hotel besides the location is Bongos. We went there almost every evening. The drinks and food were very very good. The room was small, I can't imagine having more than 2 people I the room. The bathroom was small, and the air conditioner was very loud. The breakfast buffet was ok. Overall, I think this hotel is a very good value for the money.

We stayed here for one night in late January. We had a room with a king sized bed, and there was a small couch with a murphy bed in the wall behind it. The room was large and comfortable, and had a mini-fridge and coffeemaker - we also appreciated the free wi-fi. The best part was the private balcony overlooking the gulf. It was billed as a bay view room, but we actually had a very nice view down the beach. We requested a room on a higher floor, and our 8th floor room had a great view. The breakfast buffet in the downstairs restaurant was pretty good, too. The only drawback I can think of was that there was no hot tub next to the pool, which we often enjoy at hotels.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors have better views. We were on the north side, which was quiet - I wondered if...
