Sirata Beach Resort
Ranked #12 of 32 Hotels in St. Pete Beach
Reviewed March 16, 2006

We stayed in March and loved it. We got a suite with our two kids and it worked perfect. When we got there we stocked the fridge and hardly went anywhere. You can walk to a few restaurants. Crabby Bills is great. The staff was friendly and grounds were clean. Nice pools and beach. The kids could swim while we sat at the bar. The game room was located under our room so the kids had a blast. We will definitely return.

Just returned from a long weekend at The Sirata. Our group had 5 rooms right by the pool, and the location couldn't have been better. The beach bars were great, food okay, drinks even better. Access to the beach was phenomenal, and we particularly enjoyed the hammocks right on the beach. Volleyball and other activities fun, great singer/guitar player at Rum Runners on Fri. afternoon, beautiful view of the sunset. We all had a fantastic time! Yes, we would stay here again.

The Sirata Beach Resort is listed as a 3 Star facility, which is probably a fair rating. It is an older facility that has had some renovations done, but still needs a bit more upgrading to be at the level of some of the newer resorts in the area. A bit pricey for this rating, but certainly a beautiful location, with ready access to the beach.
Yes, there are 3 pools, but none of them are large enough for "swimming" (more like wading). The shore side lounges are very nice, with good service, but a bit pricey for most drinks. Do NOT eat at the Durangos Steak house, on the property, as the service was terrible, and was very pricey.
To get around the area, it is a very good idea to rent a car, as the public transit is almost non-existent.
A great place to go with a family. Spend the extra $$$ for a suite, as you can then cook a few meals there.

Have stayed at the Sirata Beach before, both as a couple and with extended family, this time it was just the two of us, so we know what the expect, we we're actually given the same room as last year as we liked the location, building 1 over looking the pool and ocean, the rooms are pretty standard but clean and are cleaned on a daily basis, the staff are very friendly and accomodating, nothing is too much trouble.

The beach bars tend to close early, usually closed when you return from dinner, but this year the lobby lounge was reguarly open and was a lovely place for a last drink, Rick the barman was excellent and had guests conversing between themselves, so each night it was as if you'd made new friends.

The location of the hotel is excellent, directly on the beach and within easy walking distance of many diners and restaurants.

Am already booked for February next year and looking forward to it.

Honestly, when I was searching for a hotel I wasn't going to go to the Sirata because of reviews posted here. Budget wise, it was our best choice, so we figured we would take a chance. We were pleasantly surprised, the location was awesome, the beach was beautiful and everyone was super friendly. Really couldn't have been happier. Our room was clean and comfortable, not the Ritz but that's not what I was expecting. I disagree with another poster about the food too, we ate at the Sirata's Harry's Beach Bar and everything was always good. Also was impressed that they had a staffer who would take a group out for a sunset stroll and talk about the areas sights (we chose to stay in the hot tub though..haha). Definately a good "bang for your buck", would stay there again.

Our first choice for our stay in St Pete Beach in February was fully-booked so we opted for a suite at the Sirata. Because of a mix-up on check-in, we were lucky to be able to choose suites in 2 different buildings & chose a 6th floor suite in building 4 which is an older building. Standing at the sliding glass doors gave good views of the beach & ocean as well as the street. Sheer drapes are needed for this wall of glass windows because otherwise to block direct sunlight, the only option is to close full heavy drapes. Although this was a suite with kitchen facilities, the hotel skimps by providing 2 forks, 2 spoons, etc, 3 mugs, 2 cereal bowls, 2 plates, no kettle, toaster or cutting board - you get the picture. A kettle & toaster were provided quickly on request, no cutting board available.

Cleaning of the room was cursory & minimal each day, most days on telephoned request - "it's after 3pm, can we have the room cleaned please".

We will look for other accomodations here next year.
