The resort is a perfect beach location but the rooms are average at best. To get towels for the pool and beach, we had to give our room info and sign a slip that they return to you when you bring the towels back which defeated the purpose because they don't count the towels that you return. They required us to wear a wrist band every day at the pool, but they never checked our room identification to see if we were an actual guest. They walked around handing out the bands. The service staff were very good. It is kid friendly and I saw pets too.

Dear TR25,
Thank you for your well organized feedback. On a positive note we were happy to read you enjoyed the perfect beach location and kid friendly atmosphere. Thank you for mentioning the service staff. I am sorry you found our pool towel and wristband process inefficient. I will certainly pass on your comments to our Security Director. It is only through the observations and recommendations of our guests that we are able to evaluate our performance and advance our quality of service. Your responses will be used to constructively monitor the success in achieving that unique level of service, which is the Sirata Beach Resort goal. Thank you for your patronage and do hope to see you again.

I'd like to begin by saying this is a decent place to stay compared to some of the other similarly priced resorts on St. Pete beach. It's an older hotel, the rooms are not brand new, but they aren't terrible either. We spent most of out time out on the beach or sightseeing around town so we only slept in the rooms anyway. The parking is a fight but really that is to be expected anywhere on SPB in my opinion...and we always managed to find a spot to park somewhere. There are 2 small pools each with its own bar and live music and they don't stay open late. The drinks are all very expensive, ($5 for a draft beer)The hotel doesn't have free WIFI you have to pay for it, also parking is an additional $8 per day. Overall its a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money and get a room with a beach view

My family stayed at this beautiful resort in the month of April & we were more than satisfied. I met a young lady by the name of Sophia and she was very warm kind and sweet. She spoke very well & helped us to locate an ice machine. She stated in fact that she was a new employee so finding a machine was a journey for us both. Never the less she was an excellent help.

We literally just got back from the Sirata and wanted to get this all down while fresh in my mind.
Terrific stay! So many of you like myself want to know should I stay at the Sirata or the Tradewinds? We stayed at the Tradewinds 2 years ago. At both hotels we got a balcony with full ocean view. Spend the extra $$ on an ocean view if you can! I am a mom with two daughters 10 and 13, so I cannot speak for what boys would prefer. We planned on rebooking the Tradewinds but it was too difficult keeping up with them. They wouldn't drop the 4 night minimum until the last minute and we spent the first half of our trip in Disney and only wanted 3 nights. When they finally did, they wanted to charge me WAY more for the room I got 2 years ago and up'd their resort fee to $35 per day? In case you are wondering they added unlimited slide rides for that but after a few rides down a bouncy slide that you can do back home, your done. In addition, if you are going for the bouncies on the ocean, good luck because most of the time the wind prohibits it from being put up and my girls were exhausted after about 10 minutes. However, if you prefer a resort like feel the Tradewinds does it a bit better with room décor and grounds but at a cost. So back to the Sirata. They were more than accommodating on the 3 night stay, gave me a beautiful beachfront room on the third floor (only 3 floors for beachfront unless you get a suite), and at a terrific rate. The room has a fridge, where the Tradewinds has both a fridge and a microwave. The bathroom at the Sirata is VERY small and locker room like. However, the sink is on the outside of the bathroom whereas at the Tradewinds (small bathroom too) it is inside. Moms with teen girls know it is helpful to have a sink outside the bathroom when they take hours primping and you want to shower! So here's what I preferred and hopefully will help make your decision easier:
Ocean Views w/balcony: Right above the bar at Tradewinds so request a high floor(it can get noisy at night). Only 3 floors of beachfront at Sirata but 2nd and 3rd floor good. 1st floors walks directly out onto beach. Not by bar.
Rooms: Tradewinds décor nicer. Both rooms close to equal in size. Sirata bathroom ugly but more convenient.
Food: Sirata, Rum Runners had the best Tilapia sandwich ever! Compass Grill had great breakfast. Tradewinds ok
Pools/Bar: Sirata Rum Runners pool/bar was the better of two hotels because it was quieter and teens could swim with you. Live relaxing entertainment always, easy access to food and drinks.
Sirata Harry's pool/bar is more of 20 something party pool. We never went to it, didn't like the vibe there.
Tradewinds has an adult only pool but your kids can't come in if older. The main pool is packed with little kids and the other one is OK. Only one location centrally located to walk to for drinks.
Service: Equal at both.
Overall, if you are one of those trip advisor people who takes pictures of mold in hotel showers stay at the Tradewinds. There was no mold at the Sirata but the Tradewinds did feel a bit cleaner. I personally have a little mold in my shower at home and was never in the room much at either hotel to care. I do not think there are enough things wrong with the Sirata to spend the extra money at the Tradewinds. We had an absolutely lovely time there and I'm all about saving money on vacation so I would personally stay wherever the price is right. We loved both places and would stay at either again in a heartbeat! Thanks to the Sirata for making our stay equally as enjoyable!

Room Tip: Higher floor on beachfront rooms better

The resort itself was great. Lots of things to do and great location. However, our room was not up to standard. The microwave came on by itself so we had to leave it open so it would not come on in the middle of the night. The refridgerator door handle was on the wrong side so you hit the wall when trying to open the refridgerator. There were no hangers in the bathroom to hang your towels or robes. There was no fan in the bathroom. There was no door on the bathroom directly just on the door leading to the bathroom. The toilet started to leak our last day. The carpet was filthy. The beds were ok. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Very disappointed. Rooms vary GREATLY and are strangely set up. When walking into our room you ran right into the bathroom sink. Others you walk through the bedroom into a galley kitchen and then living area. I was most unhappy with the cleanliness of our room. Bathrooms were not clean and daily services for clean towels, coffee packets, and soap had to be requested, not only by us, but others in our group. Our room was missed completely one night. Bring your own beach towels because the ones provided by the resort are thin and cheap. It was also difficult to sleep because of the partying until early morning hours. You have to pay a nightly fee for parking. Good luck finding a spot if there is a wedding. I will say the 3 pools are very nice for the kids. Overall, I would not recommend this resort for families. There are plenty of other places to stay in treasure island or Madeira beach that are much better for the price.

My husband, myself and our soon to be 6 month d stayed here for 5 nights. We came in on a Sunday and left early Friday morning. The two things that we weren't happy with was the parking ($8 per day) there is ver limited space so you never know where or if you will find a space. The second was the pools were very crowded and there was not always chairs available poolside. They have a sign that says unattended chairs/towels will be removed but they weren't. Our cleaning lady was excellent very friendly and accommodating to our napping baby. If he was sleeping she would make sure someone came back and took care of us! The kitchenette was nice especially for families. We also liked the location, it was great walking distance to plenty of local restaurants.
