The big, pink Don Cesar on St. Pete Beach, right when you get off the Pinellas bridge, is a showstopper.
Hospitality is tops. We drove up in the dark, and the valet directed us to self-parking when we asked for that, very graciously. No attitude or pretentiousness from any of the staff.
We checked out all three restaurants (didn't come for brunch, but for dinner later in the evening). The formal dining space had some amazing seafood presentation. Downstairs, the restaurant was spacious but too empty for us (we came pretty late). But the adjacent patio had just the right vibe. Same kitchen. We ordered some small dishes, soup, risotto, and a great dessert: frozen key lime souffle with toasted cream topping. It sounded so improbable, we had to try it. Best dessert.
We'll definitely go back, and will also try the upstairs restaurant for a special evening out.
