Description: Pine Island's original and oldest restaurant, The Waterfront Restaurant & Marina has been around for 100 or so years. Serving "Ole Florida Style" seafood baskets & entrees, burgers, salads & more, The Waterfront is a local favorite. Our seafood is local and fresh, what's on your plate today was swimming yesterday! Conveniently located at the mouth of the Henley Canal, we are a boater's favorite as well, with 16 easily accessible boat slips and the shortest idle time of all local boat friendly establishments. Come on in for one of our daily specials, Saturday features $9 Dozen Raw Oysters, plump, delicious & hand shucked to order. Sunday's special is our FAMOUS Sweet Tea Fried Chicken, available only on Sundays, until we run out! Check out our picture gallery for our other Daily Specials. We have beautiful outdoor dining, dockside with frequent manatee & dolphin sightings as well as breathtaking sunsets. On the deck, we welcome your well behaved pets as well!

The Waterfront Restaurant has a diverse menu of well prepared food. The four of us were all quite happy with our meals. But we had to eat indoors. Their outdoor dining is a narrow porch with minimal protection from the sun. As nice as it would be to sit outdoors, watching the boats traveling up the canal, we retreated to the indoors. Perhaps on an overcast day it would be OK on that patio. Go for the food, and the cheerful service, but don't count on dining outdoors.

Tucked away at the southern tip of St. James City, FL on Pine Island, is The Waterfront restaurant. We saw this on the local Paradise TV show, so we decided to give it a try. They have boat docks for folks coming by boat, but we went by car. We like Pine Island, so the trip out there was fun for us.
When you get out to St. James City, don't expect anything fancy--it is an island, laid-back area. The bar/kitchen part of the building is over 100 years old--used to be the school. The dining room & deck were added. It has funky decor, tropical colors, writing on the walls, and paper drawings hanging from the ceiling. Just my kind of place for a local place to enjoy.
We went mid-afternoon and there were only a few other tables there. Our waitress (who was very friendly & chatted with us) said that during season, there is usually an hour wait. So, we will only be going there off-season!!
Our food was excellent! We ordered the onion strings to start off--thin & crispy. We ordered the baskets--I had the haddock & my husband had the grouper. Both were delicious! We had to try the coconut fried cheesecake, even though we were pretty full. OMG, if you like cheesecake and coconut, you MUST try this. The cheesecake is dipped in a batter, rolled in coconut breading, deep fried, dusted with powdered sugar, drizzled with chocolate and raspberry sauce. I think it's the best dessert I've ever eaten.
Anyway, we felt it was worth the drive to get there. Just go, hang loose, relax & enjoy yourself! Prices were on par with other seafood places in Ft. Myers. We will be going there again soon!

This is worth going to see if you like to explore but the food is average and a little expensive for what you get, the presentation is nice but the flavour is ok. Good service and interesting atmosphere. I would go again for the boating trip.

Have eaten here probably 50 or more times over the last 10 years. This used to me one of my main spots when out fishing to grab a bite on the water. Over the last few years this place has gone downhill. Yesterday was the first time I've been back in over a year and not much has changed. Food prices have gone up quite a bit, the bathroom was very dirty and toilet clogged full. There was dead insects on the window sill by our table.

We ordered gator bites for an app which I must say were absolutely delicious, probably one of the best I've had. Perfectly cooked! Then came the burgers, which also were cooked very nicely. We ordered MED-RARE which most places bring you MED-WELL no matter what you tell them.
But the bacon tasted like it was 3 days old. It was so hard you could barely chew it, almost like beef jerky. Bread was also stale and hard.

Probably won't be back for a while unless I'm out on the water nearby and starving.

saw this featured on pardise tv program - was sooo disapointed - their menu was one page - not like their web site at all - dingy place dirt parking lot - got our drinks - and then left no choice whatsoever from menu - save yourself the long drive not worth it at all
