“Good Stay”
Reviewed August 12, 2010

We stayed 2 nights. We live on the west coast of florida but love St. Augustine. We visit often and usually stay in the historic district but wanted to stay on Anastasia Island (which is where this hotel is located), for a change. The staff - very pleasant and met our needs for any extra we asked for. Check in and out was fast and easy. The pool was a decent size for the hotel size but could have been a bit cleaner...that's a big issue with us...since we have a 7 year old that LOVES to swim....The breakfast seating was a big down point as seating is very limited so we brought our breakfast back to the room, no big deal....but they could have atleast opened the confrence room for overflow....The rooms were clean the mini fridge and mini micro were important... Try "Rita's" a little ice cream shop across the street--YUM! and publix is just down the road if you need anything. Atlantic Ocean is also just across the street...and Down town is a nice quick drive....All in all it was a good stay

We were lucky to get a 5 night accommodation Easter Week after walking out of the filthy Comfort Inn down the road. The staff was great, the hotel very clean and the breakfast buffet was fantastic for $8.99. Although the breakfast was not free as it is in some other hotels the omelets and french toast were made to order and we could skip lunch. We simply walked across the street to the beach and we also got to see the space shuttle take off! Coffee and tea 24/7. I would stay here again. A very fair rate considering we were walk ins. The king bed was very comfortable with feather pillows. The best nights sleep we have had in a hotel..

We recently spent 2 nights at this hotel. The rooms were very clean...carpet looked brand new! Would recommend this property to any one looking to stay at the beach while visiting Saint Augustine. Kids enjoyed the pool...although it wasn't heated. Easy walk to the beach...less than 5 minutes.

In a chilly spring we didn't care about being right on the beach. This hotel gave us a good room, and it was QUIET. In spring break season, that's something. Everything was very clean, and the staff quite accommodating. The desk staff went out of their way to answer our questions and prepare the room as we had requested (NO air freshener). The breakfast buffet was adequate, though it does cost $8.95. However, the made-to-order French toast was GREAT. I never like restaurant French toast, but agreed to try this because the waitress was enthusiastic. It was custardy and delicious -- I couldn't have made it better myself.

This is very nice hotel to stay at while visting St. Augustine. Rooms were a nice size, staff was friendly, and the location was fine.

It's not close to most attractions, but we knew that going into it (as most hotels in the historic district were VERY expensive). However, it's only a few minutes to the historic district, and it's a pleasant drive.

Overall, a good deal. I'd go back.

My wife and I enjoyed a 3 night stay in October, 2009. I didn't pay too much attention when I booked the hotel, and I thought it was on the water side of the road. Other's mentioned the short 2 block walk to the beach. The Hilton-Garden is on the inland side of A1A Beach Blvd. It isn't that big of a deal because the road is 2 lane, and not very busy, but not being on the water means the rooms don't face the water. There's virtually no view to speak of.

The Location is very close to the Anastasia Island State Park, and Lighthouse. I'll post on my experiences there in another review.

The beds are a comfy memory foam like the Sweedish Sleep System infomercials. My wife is picky about beds and found this bed to be comfortable.

The Microwave, Fridge and Coffeemaker were nice. Its not a "micro-fridge". They are 2 separate units in a nice cabinet with a bit of counter space. The only "dishes" provided are fairly standard glasses and coffee mugs; 2 of each. If you're planning on heating up leftovers or doing any other eating in the room I'd recommend bringing a roll of paper towels or napkins. It is not a full size kitchen by any stretch, so I'd say you'd be really pushing it to try to buy groceries and eat in the meal. The fridge does not have any freezer section, so Drinks and leftovers are cool, but don't plan to bring frozen hot pockets or ice-cream.

The breakfast is not included and is $9. It looked good enough, but we decided to eat out all of our breakfasts.

The wifi was free and speedy. You have to register every 24 hours to put your last name and room number (I guess to keep you from stealing their wireless without staying there). It took about 15 seconds every day, but I was otherwise online as freely as I wanted. The connection was fast enough to watch ESPN360.

I noticed several playgrounds nearby, including a fountain without walls for kids to run through. These appeared to be public parks operated by the city. I don't have any kids of my own, but my brother's kids would have enjoyed the place.

Overall, not a bad deal, if you're don't mind crossing the street to get to the beach.
