I agree with previous posters: avoid the public beach access and pay the 5.00 to go to the State Park. It is nicely maintained, much cleaner, quieter and peaceful. I am a fan of the gulf beaches, but did enjoy the day we spent here. The sand is nice and soft, well packed near the waters edge (we saw several people riding their bike along the water edge). We were there at low tide and found many jellyfish and starfish washed ashore. There is also a small boardwalk with nice viewing. There is a shop that sells food and rents bikes/beach items, although we did not use this. A nice place to spend the day and soak up some sun.
